Yea, that was pretty well known back when they did try it. This is sort of common knowledge for most on this site. However, it seems like more really wants to talk about Microsoft lately.

Yeah, I read somewhere it went like this:

Microsoft: Nintendo, we're making a console for the next cycle, and we need someone to do a lot of the software. How's about $20 billion?

Nintendo: Hahaha, good one MS. That was a very funny and yet so believeable joke, haha...

Microsoft: uhm... we're serious?

Nintendo: really? Damn, lol dude... but sorry, no deal. Nintendo is a profitabble company, and not for sale, not even for $20 billion.

Not long after that, Yamauchi made some kind of reference comparing Microsoft's ''invasion'' in the console business to America in the Vietnam war.
Damn, Yamauchi's console-regime had fallen to the likes of Sony, but he was still SUCH a badass...

Good thing Nintendo didn't agree with the deal, seeing they're worth like 5 times as much as what Microsoft offered back then.

Microsoft has the money to buy anything they want.

I wouldnt be suprised if microsoft buys earth

Nintendo pisses me off these days, but I'm glad they didn't let MS buy them. Competition in the console industry ftw

I'm glad nothing came of it. You can bet that nothing like the Wii would ever have been released on Microsoft's watch.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
