I love the phrasing of the original post, just when they were getting good.... another PR disaster....

No one really cares about this, why do you?

Nice attempt to dampen the Sony positivity again.

'I suppose it was too much to ask for Sony to go an entire year without reminding us that it's run by complete arseholes.'

Indeed I suppose it was expected that people would start shit up again...

Also all the stuff you say and the way you say it indicates you are just here to smear the name of Sony and its products

I care because no one cares. I feel sorry for people who put their trust into a company who have shown time and time again that they don't deserve it. At the same time, I would like to see companies punished for their misdeeds rather than people just ignoring them saying "they don't apply to me" and continuing to buy their products.

Yes, you should expect people to start shit up again, because Sony has once again shown that they cannot be trusted to act in a moral fashion. I am not putting any effort into smearing the name of Sony and their products, they are doing a good enough job of it on their own.

If you want to sit there and not care about how the company who produces a product you own are screwing over their customers and their business partners then fine, be that way. Keep buying their products. I'm sure you were lucky enough not to purchase a CD with a rootkit and I'm sure you'll find yourself lucky enough to avoid the next thing they do. Good for you. I wish people would have the strength to stand up for themselves and say "I'm sick of being treated like shit by companies I purchase products from. I refuse to buy anything from them until they mend their ways" rather than taking the easy way out and not caring about it.

It is disappointing to see so little care for the actions of large corporations and it exactly the attitude of people like you which allow companies such as Sony to thrive.

Can you ban people for trolling? I can't think of a single positive thing that NJ5 has said about Sony. Seriously. Ever since the first parts of E3, you've been on a rampage digging up every anti-Sony article, idea and twisting everything to try to make it look like Sony did wrong. On the other hand, you do the exact opposite for Microsoft. Is your whole goal here to try to raise as much hate as you possibly can?

I wish I had no life. (Or got paid to astro-turf?)

Instead of attacking me, please address my specific points and point out where I'm wrong or distorting things. In this thread, you can for example tell me how it can be good that Sony is suing another company for their mistakes.

PS: I hereby declare that I don't own a Xbox 360 and will likely never have one, while I'm planning to buy a Wii and would only buy a PS3 - second hand - for playing with the Cell (I'm a programmer) and/or to do folding@home when they sell for under 150 €.

PS2: I just went through your posting history and my conclusion is that I shouldn't have bothered to reply against your accusation. You have other posts accusing this site of being Nintendo biased (which may be true but is nothing surprising) or calling people trolls. Less ad hominem attacks, more thoughtful posts please.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

Earlier this year I had to make a project about rootkits. I know pretty much about the topic, so it really surprises me what they are doing now. As it has already been mentioned, they ASKED the company then called First4Internet to make DRM software for them, WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS. This means, they were allowed to use anything they wanted as long as it was a good DRM software. And they decided to implement a rootkit which didn't let the user know he had DRM software installed on his computer. Sony HAD to know this, hence the famous statement "Most people, I think, don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?".

And now they are suing the company which made the rootkit, which doesn't even exist, since it was bought by another. They have lost their minds. :|

I consider this the first of all the steps (exploding batteries, PS3 price, arrogance) and bad PR that led the company to the position where it is now.

That was just mass incompetance on MS's behalf, and not actual evilness. I can't believe you brought this example forward as Microsoft has an incredble history of being complete arseholes and you pulled out the one example of them just being bad engineers.

But I would like to point out, what's your point? I already don't own an Xbox, or an Xbox360. I run Linux on all my computers, and I do own a Microsoft keyboard and mouse which I am looking to replace (they are both about 5 years old and the keyboard is starting to get difficult to type on) and I sure as hell won't buy another Microsoft product to replace them.

I know that Microsoft has a terrible history of fucking over customers (much worse than Sony) and I don't purchase their products because of it. You think I'm able to notice Sony's failures but so blind as to think Microsoft is a force of good in this world?

give up. The truth is that they know you're correct so they fall back on the "Nintendo fans are trolling", "this forum is Nintendo biased", "If a Sony fan said this they'd be banned instantly" bullshit. No one is going to address your points one by one.

What did you honestly expect? For E3 to completely turn Sony around, back into a company that most people on this forum view as positive? Sony was right, most people DON'T know what a rootkit is, but SONY knew what a rootkit was, and was just hoping nobody would ever find out about it.
