wow this is the first time i have heard of the PS3 having any problems.

You've obviously been leaving in an cave in isolation for the last year and a bit.

There are plenty of broken PS3's, difference is, it's not down to one specific thing (RROD or broken Pixels on the Wii) AND it's not as big as RROD.

That's like saying just because you're computer never gets viruses, it means that no computers on earth get viruses.

@KZ2: If you don't want to help the guy, just leave the thread. Do what sony always does and pretend like it never happened.

@smiles123: I would just send it in to Sony, you'll probably have to pay a fee (if it's outside the year warranty) but it's the best solution you can possibly do, since you can't see anything on screen.

Yeah my new MGS4 80GB PS3 died just 13 (unlucky) days after having it...even though no one here believed me. But after just a hair short of about 3 weeks I had the replacement in my hands from Sony, it's been working fine ever since. I guess crap happens, although today I was in my local Wally World and noticed that the Xbox 360 they had in their display had totally RRODd!!! :)

Good to hear you're gaming again!

Out of interest, what game were you playing (if it was a game) when it died?

@OP:

Yeah - try swap out the hard drive. with a different (notebook size SATA drive)

Windows won't let you format your PS3 drive as FAT32 though, you'll need a third party prog to do that

Why MGS4 of course!  Looking back on it I'm surprised I didn't think it was some kind of Kojima trick that was PART of MGS!
