Agreed, which is why I'm looking into purchasing a PS3 (60GB) with full B/C. They are a bunch of idiots. If the PS3 was enabled to fully enhance past games, they should have kept it in. Too bad that if Sony could have added extra enhancements on the games to make sure that upgrading PS2 users got more for what they purchased. Retarded Sony marketting...

Agreed. I never bought this nonsense that people's feeble minds are "confused" by having to choose between a whole two different package options. Unless you were trying to keep up with all the different models worldwide, it was never an issue. And if it somehow was, who cares? It was nothing that a 10-second conversation with a store clerk wouldn't clear up, and it wasn't going to stop anyone from buying ("Oh no, I want a PS3, but I don't know which one to pick! I guess I'll just go buy 300 tacos instead.")

But the simplicity of the multiple sku options depended on having each one clearly differentiated by its harddrive size, and now we're losing that.

I guess the new confusion is already leaving its mark, because they're not phasing out the 40gb -- they're phasing out the 80gb, and upgrading the 40gb's harddrive. Of course, having you think you're getting the 80gb for $399 is exactly what they want...

actually they are keeping the other 80 gb sku... lol.. they will just have two different versions.. one called a "core pack" and the other i guess is the regular one.

no they arent, 1 sku only worldwide.

i've already pre-ordered one of the new 80gb sku's - it would have been great to have b/c but at £299 it's price more than made up for it.

Still amazes me how the PS2 built up the biggest and most diverse software library in console history and the PS2 userbase still clearly has a lot of people waiting to commit to next get yet Sony seem hell bent on dropping b/c faster than a ginger haired step son.

Great choice from Sony.

Less cost for them, better capacity to drop the price.

Less confusion, more simple offer.

Just look at Arcade Xbox360 ... all is said.

what they want is AAA games + price drop

that is why some people are waiting to get a PS3.

In Others it will probaly sell better than the 40 gig due it is a better value but will probaly be differnt in Us.
