So yesterday afternoon I was working on a client web project at home, heard my roommate come back in the apartment... and then a few minutes later I heard the faint sound of the FFIV theme music.

I of course went to investigate, and the bastard has the new FFIV remake on DS.  Watched him play for a bit, surprisingly impressive graphics for a DS game.  It looks like they've done a great job with this edition of the game.... I may have to break my promise to never buy another stupid handheld again.

CURSE THOSE TINY SCREENS!  Frick.  This is totally not what my wallet needs right now >.<

SQE really do great on FFIV remake ,it wasn't so much easy like FFIII DS. :)

I can guarantee you won't disappoint if you buy DS. XD

What have you got against handhelds (just tiny screens?) You're missing out on some great stuff. Seeing as you’ve bought a load of FF/RPG games I'd say go for it, you're not going to be disappointed. Can't wait myself, but then SE will make me...

Yeah, I mostly hate the tiny screens of handhelds, plus I wish a lot of the unique games that came out on them were hitting a console instead... where they could be played in full glory on a large screen.

But I'm sure development costs are cheaper on a handheld system... sigh.

So you want a DS just to play a 17 year old game on an itty bitty screen?

Buy a used GameCube for 30 bucks and get a Game Boy Player with it and pick up Final Fantasy IV Advance (it even has extras not in the DS version)

^ I'm pretty sure he will be buying it for the graphical updates and the FMVs. He probably already has the original. Oh and the extras aren't worth the purchase of a gamecube and a game boy player imo. Also there are plenty of other DS games he could play.

Its worth picking a DS at this point in time since there are also many other RPGs coming out and after FF4 there is still chrono trigger DS thats coming out. You will be missing out on great games if you don't own a DS this gen.

Chrono Trigger?  Another decade plus older port?  Woo hoo!
