Hell no, people are just bored playing american saves the day.

Gimmi a game where iam the Russians or Chinese and i get to invade the usa.

hmm, that's a great idea. or how about medieval knights jarring with the backdrop in europe? european developers really need to step up.

all devs need to step up.

Most devs dont take risks. How can you prove to a publisher that a game about medievel knights will sell? There's not been many recent games like that, that have sold many copies.

Its easier just to make World War 2: Fighting In The Streets of (European City)

I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting burned out on war games, WW2 has been covered almost to death (at least the European theatre) and even modern combat games seem to be becoming a crowded field.

Just looking at war game releases for the 360 until the end of the year we have:

  • Hour of Victory (WW2 European and North African theatres)
  • Medal of Honor: Airborne (WW2 European theatre)
  • Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions (WW2 European theatre)
  • America's Army: True Soldiers (War Present Day)
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (War Present Day)
  • Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway (WW2 European theatre)
  • Turning Point Fall of Liberty (WW2 Alternate timeline in which Nazis beat Russia and England)
  • Codename: Panzers (WW2 European theatre)
  • Crossfire (Covert War Present Day)
  • Dogtag (Covert War Present Day)
  • Strike Force Red Cell (Covert War Present Day)
  • Warhound (Covert War Present Day)
  • Frontlines: Fuel for War (War between Europe/US and Russia/China)

Some of these will likely slip to 2008 and I haven't even mentioned the list of 2008 war games, it's too bad third parties couldn't come up with more original ideas.  I realize I'm sometimes hard on the Wii but at least some of the third parties on that system are going out of their way to come up with some fresh ideas, some 360 developers need to do the same.

I hate war games. The Xbox 360 needs platform games... Badly... But no Blinx games, because Blinx sucks. Banjo Kazooie 3 might be good, but the Xbox 360 needs a lot more. Damn you Microsoft, and all of your stupid shooting games. Keep Halo, and get rid of all of the others.

The market speaks. If the war games sell well, there will be more of them. War games will stop being made whenever people stop buying them. Which won't happen.

Okay, everybody listen. Stop buying war games. Don't buy them, ever again! Ever!

MS isn't the one putting out the 50m wargames....It's third parties. Look at Microsoft's 1st and 2nd party games.

Halo
Fable
PGR Series
Forza
Viva Pinata
Banjo Kazooie
Perfect Dark
Viva Pinata
Kameo
Blue Dragon (Mistwaker 2nd party)
Cry-On (")
Lost Odyssey (")

Only 2 of their games (Halo and PDZ), are shooters. These are just the ones I can think of.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

HAH, somehow I don't see this band wagon rolling to the finish.

First though, stop buying mini game collections and non-games and other 'casual' games.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Do spy games count as war games, because if they do you missed Sam Fishers next iteration?

Do alternate future games really count? (I say no, if the weapons and the charaters are different)

BTW you missed time shift...

OR, buy what you enjoy and don't worry about what other people think of those games.

WWII games also sell well, so developers sometimes just want a quick buck.
