When all is said and done at the end of this generation, do you expect the 360 to manage at least 40 million?

Some people say the 360 hasn´t really been able to get people to see it´s not only a 'shooter box', that it actually has more variety than the PS3.

But on the other hand, it´s selling better than the original Xbox (as far as I know, might be wrong here).

Closer to 60 plus. Thing is going to be around for years and once it hits it consumer friendly price point that is when the legs will kick into gear. I see the PS3 at about the same before the PS4 hits.

Its been selling on around 8-10m a year (with projections showing sales are better this year than last). Based on talk from Microsoft, the 360 will be around for much longer than Xbox with PS2 as the inspiration (I predict at least till 2012).

Therefore reaching 40m is a given.

The better question is will it reach 60m.

I will sell between 40 to 45 million consoles sold worldwide. 40 million X360 sales would represent a 60% increase upon the original XBox (25 million).

If X360 sells 40 million. PS3 should sell over 80 million sales LTD. Nintendo Wii X + Y = Z. Nintendo Wii will sell around 120 million sales LTD.

Course, especially as casual gamers/consumers see no real difference between both consoles.

Was stood in line at Game the other day and a chap came in asking if they had a PS3 in stock. There wasn't.

Asked if there was any difference between that and the 360 which was in stock. Staff said no. He bought.

I could have had a ramble about the pros and cons to the chap, but I couldn't be bothered as I'm currently enjoying my 360 after I've literally annhilated MGS4.

The XBox 360 has been on the market for 2.5 years and hasn't broken 20 Million units yet, and I think it will be facing tougher competition in the future. I expect that it will be replaced after 5 years and will have sold 35 Million units at that point in time; depending on how well it is pushed after the next system is released will determine whether it will pass 40 Million units or not.

It'll be close...depends on how well it hangs on in the next generation and when the next generation for Microsoft begins.

Hmm.. will x360 in next 2,5 years sell another 20 mln. ? =))

Well, x360 is still not at 199$/euro price. So, there is a chance. :)

In next 30 months(120weeks):
1.1 mln. Japan. (+360k with 3k per week +140k some boost)
15 mln. Europe. (+7.2 mln.)
24 mln. USA? (+12 mln.)
