Forums - Sony Discussion - IGN says Sony's trophy system will walk all over Xbox 360's achievements

Sounds like the same idea with just a different way of marking how many you've collected. I don't see it as any better, just different. All the same, it's a good addition.

I give this thread a 9.6.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

i've never seen achievements and gamerscores as an incentive to play a game further/again, but i do like it when the achievement message pops up though!

Sorry as I can't be bothered looking up link (I've just flown into a different timezone and am knackered!) but didn't I see an story indicating trophies will allow access to special bonuses, content going forward - giving them more than simple bragging rights and actually making them useful?

Sorry If I'm wrong just whack me gently on the side of the head to wake me up...

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

the trophy system sounds tons better rather than just a number.

i cant wait for the animated trophys in home thats gonan be neat.

2.4 update will make the ps3 even more better

Gaming has changed. It's no longer about fun, challenges, or storytelling. It's an endless series of point whoring done by gamers on machines. Gaming - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine.

Gaming has changed. ID-tagged gamers play on ID-tagged consoles, use ID-tagged accounts. Specifications inside their save files enhance and regulate their rewards. Trophy control. Gamerscore control. Parental control. Region-specific differences control. Everything is monitored and kept under control.

Gaming has changed. The age of next-gen promises has become the age of control... All in the name of averting catastrophe from casual gaming and waggle. And he who controls the most features... Controls the console war.

Gaming has changed. When the consoles are under total control... ...Gaming becomes routine.

The best way to beat Achievements is to not go near them. They're a replay-killing gimmick, designed to get people to overplay their games to death and get bored a quickly as possible, so they'll run out and buy more games for MOAR POINTZ.

I have trouble even finishing my games the first time.  If this system can at least get me to do that, then I'm all for it.

I seriously doubt it. Trophies are better than nothing, but no comparison to achievements.

you're right. Achievements are totally outclassed by trophies.

I'm just making fun of him btw

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

*applaudes* Classic

I don't see how any versions is better.

So instead of having a gamerscore you get levels? yay...

i still find both of them useless and just a grind, but i can see how people like them, just not this much!
