The prices in my country.

Wii - $499 - $440 before tax - $336 USD/$86 more than US.

Xbox360 Arcade - $399 - $354 before tax - $268/$12 less than US

Xbox360 Pro -$549 - $488 before tax - $370/$20 more than US

Xbox360 Elite -$799 - $710 before tax - $538/$88 more than US

PS3 40gb -$799 - $710 before tax - $538/$138 more than US.

It seems that the Xbox360 has the fairest prices out of the three.

Its wierd, the PS3 is twice the price of the Arcade and a large percentage more than the Pro and yet it outsells the Xbox360. I swear my country just buys anything that has a Sony logo on it. We're sheep!!  BAAAAH!

We're too poor to own HDTVs in general, a good proportion of the buyers are poor (Compared to Europe/US/Australia/Somalia) and they can't afford/too dumb to use wireless, they don't have HDTVs, they can't afford Blu ray anyway and yet they buy PS3's in huge numbers. Ahh, its to help Sony make back those losses by screwing the saps that don't know any better. (Nothing against Sony, I mean Microsoft would do it too if they could get away with it)

So whats it like in your country? How does the price difference make you feel when you compare to the US? Does the principle of paying more effect your purchasing decisions?

Here in Mexico:

XBOX 360 : 450 dollars the premium I think that the elite is 550

PS3: 800 dollars 80 gb ( haven´t found any 40 gb so far)

Wii: 450 dollars ( yes as much as a PS3 in the US)

The prices are insane! Even more if you consider people here have a far more reduced budget than other people in many different countries.

I'd question the notion that 360 is fairest price.  Look at Elite vs PS3 and consider the difference.  The issue with the PS3 is that its an all or nothing purchase.  You get BR plus DVD playback capability, you get WiFi, etc. all of which makes it a very good price - also to be honest I believe the build quality on the PS3 is superior.

What 360 offers is more choice - i.e. you can purchase a bare bones system with no WiFi, HDD, etc. and of course it as no HD movie playback.

However I don't think that makes it fairer - it just means it fits certain budgets better than a PS3.
