Forums - Gaming Discussion - This is the XBOX 360's LAST chance to perform in Japan.

If it does not make a greater dent on overall sales or sell a whole **** load in Japan with Square-Enix's help now, you can officially say the 360 will no longer get exclusive JRPG's. Nor will Japan ever embrace the console. We all know Microsoft is filling them up with bags of money to buy out exclusives, and not even Nintendo or Sony has enough money to buy them out. This is probably why they bit the hand of the rich mogul because they need money now and sacrificing fans for money bribes was the only way to do it. This also tests the fanbase of the Americans and their love or hate for JRPG's. being that Star Ocean was a PS game, SO4 jumping to the 360 may confuse american gamers since many of them may have never played a SO game before.

But this is officially Microsoft's last chance to start proving to japanese devs that they can do better than the PS3 in Japan and if this doesn't do it, they better stop dropping more money for a wasted effort.

I don't really care if 360 does well in Japan, as long as 360 gets JRPG's. It's not like the PS3 is doing hot in Japan either. Grats on your first post.

it is too late ...

it may even be too late for the PS3 ....

for the Xbox360 the question is not "how to save japan sales"
but more "how to save European sales ?"

Time to Work !

You've missed Microsoft's whole point.

Making money in this venture is obviously positive and they've been profitable in a few quarters, but most of that is taking a backseat to hurting Sony and establishing themselves in the media center environment.  Whether or not Star Ocean 4 sells a lot of consoles is gravy as it's a brutal blow to PS3 fans.

Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope... For x360 in Japan.

Not nessicarily. Rember Microsfot's goal #1 is to steal market share from sony. (gaol number 2 being become #1 overall and make profit) Stealling all those JRPGs might be preventing Sony from dooing better in Japan, and may be helping 360 in EU/USA/Canada/AU, so it might still be worth it. And if the library gets big enough, the japanese might decide to buy the system for the games, even if they dislike the system/brand itself.

@HAwkeye

in EU it won't help.......in EU if it doesn't have Final Fantasy or Pokemon written on it...the JRPG won't sell

Hawkeye got it right, MS was never that delusional to believe it could claim a significant market share in Japan. All it wanted to do was hurt Sony's strong hold (incidently nintendo did most of that) and to plant to MS flag for future consoles.

Japanese CAN wait, otherwise PS3 already would be selling over 100k in Japan, since FFXIII and FFXIIIv are coming.

More over, SO4 will be release somewhere in 2009, maybe even in autumn. That A LOT of time for a DEAD console.

Tales ov Vesperia, just Like Eternal Sonata, will come to PS3, and Japanese know that. They are ABLE to wait. =)

And IU is NOTHING special, not a biiger game them Eternal Sonata.
LR also coming to PS3, and probably during 2-3 month after x360 version.

BUT yeah, it will be interesting to look at x360 sales in Japan.
