Forums - Sales Discussion - Mario Kart sold out again (US)

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but Mario Kart is sold out online at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Gamestop, Costco and Best Buy. This is crazy, Nintendo needs to get it in gear.

I saw a crapload of MK's at costco last week. They are all gone now. I was also at the Nintendo World Store last friday and they had no MK or Wii Fit, but had a decent stack of Wii's, maybe 20, at the time.

That's kinda surprising. Demand is still high even though it was released a month ago, eh? Looks like MK: Wii might have great legs after all.

I've been reading Game Over lately, and this sounds familiar... Back in the day, due largely to the microchip shortage of 1989, Nintendo only put out a small number of copies of games (both their own and third parties' games), and demand for everything was, as a result, through the roof.

Modern theory would suggest that they lost sales by doing this, but evidence suggests otherwise: the games remained perpetually sold out for far longer than they would have been had there been sufficient stock to meet demand, and more merchandise was sold overall as consumers purchased other titles as a hold-over until the game they wanted came back in stock. I'm not saying Nintendo's doing that again, but the effect is more or less the same...

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

It should get close to 3 million at the end of this month

Yeah, from a vendor for $79.98.

This is not as ridiculous as Wii Fit. I wonder if I can ever get a copy. I don't want to call everyday at every store like I had to do to find a Wii.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Theres plenty of them around me.

My local Wal-Mart and K-Mart didn't have any either. Bummer since me and my sister are still looking for it. =/

100,000 units in every region, in week 5 isn't great legs?

I just don't understand your "after all" comment. Did you somehow think it wouldn't have great legs according to how you understood the current numbers, or what?
