Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii remote has hidden audio translator for future games??

Found this on http://gonintendo.com/?p=18850

The real article is here: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/storysupplement/wiiremote/index.htm

The Wiimote’s hidden audio translater

I’ve been hearing about this all day, but now OddCrazyMe was nice enough to link me to the article and picture. This is a pretty awesome find! Perhaps we will see some games that take advantage of this feature at Nintendo’s E3 event!

Don't you think it's interesting?

Edit: Text in the picture above:

Audio translator

Manufactured and designed in the Philippines and Japan by Rohm

Function: Converts analog data such as human speech into a digital data stream. This feature is unused now but will probably be employed in future games.

Estimated Cost: $2.00

Is it for real? I meandoes my wii-motes have it built in already, is that what you are saying?

Yeah, i think it's real. Maybe Nintendo will release some microphone add-on or something to support it.

nintendogs on wii!!! it will happen and this shows that it will!!

Yeah, Brain Age on Wii too. I hope they can detect 'BLUE!' this time.

If Fortune magazine is reporting something you can place your money on it being real.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Haha. Of course they put an audio translator in there. They don't want people plugging microphones directly into the Wii console, whenever they release High School Musical or whatever... right?

Wii keeps getting better and better.

I wonder if that has something to do with the future connectivity of the DS and Wii, maybe it plays a part in the built-in mic for the DS?

EDIT: nm, just noticed it said analog to digital

Yeah, this will probably be used for some RTS games as well. Wasn't there a new RTS game not to long ago that had the big difference of allowing voice commands? Plus every try to go to "http://wiikaraoke.com", it reroutes you to Nintendo's main website.
