Forums - Nintendo Discussion - BioWare: Is the Wii Actually Gaming?

Soo, how many degrees do you think N4G gave this, usually Wii bashing gets an instant 720 degrees and the reitteration gets 980.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

=p Wow surprised Bioware said this while they are making a game for Nintendo DS.

I actually hope to be playing NWN with my GF soon, as she's vouched for the game. As for BGII, it was really the lack of direction which hurt the game the most.

The interface was alright, but I actually wound up getting into a quest which trapped me and led to a battle I wasn't prepared for and could never have handled (which was irritating, since I had already saved).

I also couldn't shake the feeling that the game would've been infinitely better with multiplayer, hence why I expected multiplayer to be the saving-grace of NWN.

Look up the Players Resource Consortium when you get around to NWN with her. The base NWN/SoU/HotU has about 40 classes or so and the PRC adds about 60 more including spells, races...etc.

Sorry to hear about your BG2 experience. Was it facing down Lord Firkraag? That can be an unpleasant "OMG WTF!" moment the first time you see him.

Also, BG2 does have multiplayer.

EA owns BioWare. BioWare will more than likely be making a game for the Wii. I'm sure that EA will not be happy that people they pay are calling their video games, toys. Just like when one of the folks from the Spore team bashed the Wii.

Video games are not defined by story. They are simply games with some form of video display.

too bad WoW didnt answer my last post. I would have loved his opinion on that.

Would you repost what you mean?  I left for a bit and then came back and started mass quote/replying so I may have missed it.  Sorry about that.

@WoW: what was that first reply to my post for?

With his statement, he pretty much has enstranged anyone who likes playing video ngames on the Wii. If he thinks that way, no problem. But publicly stating this? Isnt there a better way to express his opinion?

Furthermore, he has now publicly insulted a potential (and de facto (see DS)) business partner - one I might add that has quite a heavy influence in the industry. Meaning one that owns 2/5 of all current gen hardware and has proprietory control over that hardware.

Is that business sense?

It involved going into this giant orb-like structure which then locks behind you. You needed a specific character in your party in order to get into it, and he's basically worthless in combat. It's been too long to remember. I wish I had had someone to play it with. Probably would've made it more tolerable.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

I don't really believe there would be much fallout from this interview and the Bioware folks aren't exactly... how can I put it... always the most tactful. They can keep a secret but often times they speak their minds. The developers are often on their forums and Jay (the community manager) does quite a bit to keep people in the loop.

Good or bad, that's who they are. I'd rather a developer be honest about her opinions up front than lie and stab gamers in the back. Greg isn't going to just give lip-service to whoever is doing good and then not make good on it like so many other devs IMO. I'm not ruling out that it may have just been a stupid comment made on the spot but at very least he speaks his mind. I can respect that even if I disagree with him.

Also, now that they're a part of EA they may take a bit more internal flak for their statements but Nintendo isn't going to get into a scuffle with EA over an interview.

@WoW: I do understand your point. However, it still does not make business sense. Why even take the chance? I mean if I were the owner/ stakeholder of the company, I would make sure this never ever happens again (especially since Reggie will give me a cal....). That means the guy would get a serious talk to...
