Forums - General Discussion - What is the most scariest realistic thought that you believe will come true?

Sleep is a free preview of death each night when I don't dream.

One day soon a certain relative won't answer when I call. Knowing they passed.

I think Death Stranding pointed out some interesting potential dilemmas. They mention how in the not-so-distant future, the potential of 3D printing will allow for people to print out their own bombs, and eventually, this is what will lead to the collapse of the world as we know it.

You can print a bomb, but plastic does not explode.

Isn't C4 a plastic explosive?

The most realistic scariest thing I believe in is the United States will be hit with a nuclear bomb. I hope this doesn't happen obviously, but unfortunately I do think we are going to get hit by one in our lifetime. I don't know which country or terrorist group would do it, but I feel it is the inevitable. There is no way these countries are spending billions of dollars and putting this much time and effort just for fun.

Only one nuclear bomb? That's not a lot.

Im being hopeful.

Myself, I'd be more worried about a dirty "radioactive" bomb than a 3D printed/plastic bomb.

C-4 is composed of explosives, plastic binder, plasticizer to make it malleable, and usually a marker or odorizing taggant chemical.

So something printed on a 3d printer is not going to go boom!

Again this is gonna happend at some point.

Society will collasp when robots are able to do any job, better than a man (which again is just a matter of time).
At that point, only those that own robots, will make any profits.

Societ and our economy will have to undergo drastic changes, or see everything implode on itself.
(ei. captialism doesnt work, if the value of a human life working, is nothing)

^ this isnt something likely to happend in our lifetime though. I'd consider this something in the far future.

I think we will reach a point in our life where most jobs we do nowadays can be done by machine. That alone will be destabilising, and I think part of the political shifts happening in developed countries is because of this phenomena. The next decade will demonstrate this problem.

What's everybody do when machines do the majority of the work?

We all become politicians...

I'm afraid of getting some kind of STD just by using the public urinals. Some unlucky spray back that might fly into my open eye or lip, causing herpes there. I wipe down the top of the toilet seat when sitting down on public toilets, but that isn't enough protecting as it could have crabs clinging to the underside of the seat ready to leap on me when I use it.

So far I've been clean and safe using public bathrooms, but all it would take is one time for something to go terribly wrong.

Becoming so old that I can barely walk or take care of myself. Nothing else scares me really. Not even scared of dying. I also not scared of diseases because I know the secret to not get cancer or anything like that.

I really couldn't care less for the planet as I wont be here 60 years from now so I really don't care about global warming or if half the planet gets destroyed by an asteroid, as long as its fine where I live.

Lets be realistic, that has never happen, very unlikely that it will. In fact no one has used nuclear bombs on population in almost 60 years. And every year the defense systems get better at detecting and deflecting stuff.

You haven't been living very long on this planet, have you?
