All these comments acting like third-party video-games are doomed seem awfully silly.

Yeah I think either 2020 or 2021 will be peak.  Next year is already looking good with AC and maybe BotW 2, and we still don't know the vast majority of the games coming next year.  And Switch already has several evergreen titles which will keep selling the system (BotW, Smash, Pokemon, etc...).  I'll have to see how Switch does next year to figure out if it is the peak year or if 2021 is.  Either way, Switch still has a long life ahead of it.

So it took the Switch just 2 years and 9 months to sell what it took the Xbox One 6 years to achieve. That is both amazing for Nintendo and pathetic for Microsoft.

I will say, I think Microsoft has done all the right things throughout this generation to regain some momentum and put 'Scarlett' in a position to have more sales than the Xbox One ever did. It'll boil down to their first party offerings.

As for the Switch, I think 2020 has just as good of a chance of being the peak year as 2019. It'll depend on what is being offered. Animal Crossing is a big one, for sure. It's the biggest title the Switch has gotten in Q1 since Breath of the Wild. But it's going to need a lot more than that. I think a price cut may be on the way next year: Lite model goes to $170 and the upgraded base model goes to $250. I'm 85% certain that we're getting the next 3D Mario game next year as well. I think Pokemon Gen 4 remakes are also a strong possibility. I'm not too certain about Breath of the Wild 2, however. I think that's going to be a 2021 title. But I think the combination of Animal Crossing + 3D Mario + Pokemon Gen 4 remakes + a price cut would be a strong lineup of A tier titles to have at the top of the card for 2020. They'll also need some good, solid B tier titles in the back to support those titles and keep momentum steady. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is a good start, but it needs more. Furthermore, I think we're due for 1 big, major 3rd party game that will be a system seller. *COUGHMonsterHunterCOUGH*

The potential is there, but we need to see results. And soon... Man, I'd sure love a general Nintendo Direct right about now.

Total lack of 1st party games.  The first Xbox had Microsoft pushing for a lot of great exclusives.  You could say this about the 360 too for the first half of it's life.  But the XBO is totally lacking.  Where is Scalebound?  Where is Project Gothem Racing?  For a company selling a games machine how has this happened?

But we know how this happened, its a total failure of management at Microsoft.  From creating a console with features no one wanted, mis-management of 1st party studios to behind the scenes stuff like ID @Xbox (remember that?!).  The console sucks because the people that made it cocked up every single aspect around it.

Here's the big difference between Xbox and Sony.  When Sony fucked up the PS3 launch, they worked hard on the one thing that could actully get them back in the race; Games.

Microsoft have spent their time doing Xcloud, Backward compatibility and pushing for cross play.  All nice things, but a complete waste of time if you don't have the number one thing people actually want the console for; GAMES!

You could say that they are holding back now to bring everything to scarlet.  But that's a shit excuse.  When Sony fucked up, they made damn sure that by the end of the PS3's life it had killer games on it.  How come Microsoft haven't managed this too?  Because Xbox management is inept.

Pretty much, very weird posts lol. Third-Party publishers like EA, Activision, Ubisoft and Capcom are doing great on PS4/XBO and Switch outselling the XBO literally has zero impact on that. xD

Sony had the Vita, Nintendo had the Wii U and now Microsoft have the Xbox One. All 3 had recent products that didnt do very well. But Xbox one did better than the 2 I mentioned. Hopefully people have learnt their lesson from the Switch to not count out Microsoft just yet. They can make a comeback.

Congrats, it really helps to have a varied library. While XB1 has plenty of 3rd party games from the top western developers, it has really been lacking in Japanese games and the AA market.

Nintendo versus third parties is a complicated yet persistent narrative. Especially certain ones (E.A). 

All I know is that whenever I see one of their titles selling below expectations, I will never fail to point out when the system didn't have a Switch version.
