Here's what previous games got (counting the highest between the two versions):

Game Metascore
Ruby/Sapphire 82
FireRed/LeafGreen 81
Emerald 76
Diamond/Pearl 85
Platinum 83
HeartGold/SoulSilver 87
Black/White 87
Black 2/White 2 80
X/Y 88
Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire 83
Sun/Moon 87
Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon 84
Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee 80

A huge portion of the fanbase is enraged, but looking at how critics reviewed previous games, I'm not sure if that's going to mean anything for SWSH's metascore. I mean, Let's Go got the same scores as Black 2/White 2. That's not a good sign.

I mean, not every game mechanic or feature are gonna be received the same from every reviewer. The way reviewers viewed B2/W2 was different back then compared to Let’s Go in 2018.

we’ll just see how people view these new games..

Around the Network

I am going with 85. I can't believe Ultra Sun was 84, that game is hardly a 80.

A solid 89

78. That's more hope than anything though, I can't see reviewers being thorough enough to actually discuss anything beyond the base story.

I can seen yet another round of outrage from the Pokemon community if the games score too high. I'm guessing around an 82 though.

Around the Network

About 10 points higher than what a game with the exact same gameplay but without the name would get.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I don't play Pokemon games, but I'm going with an 88. I think handheld games lose a few points on average just for being handheld. The simple fact that this is going to be the first home version of Pokemon is going to give it a few points in its favor to counteract the unpopular changes.

84 Metacritic.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

74

I'd rather predict what a few of the summaries are going to say.

"In spite of the many disappointing cuts in the Pokédex, you can be rest assured that what Sword and Shield bring to the table is still more than enough to deliver a robust and fresh Pokémon experience. You can't catch 'em all this time around, but you're still catching - more satisfyingly than ever, and that's what matters".

¯_(ツ)_/¯

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
