I don't think this is the truth, as they'd alienate ten or twenty million PS3 owners from playing the sequels, but this could be true, as stranger things have happened.

Microsoft gave a no-risk loan of FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS to Take Two at a time when they were desperately in need of liquid cash.

It would not be at all strange for this to turn out true.

But why would take two take fifty million dollars, when they could easily sell two three or four million units on the PS3 and easily make that back...

Because Take Two needed to make money at the time.  They would have known at that point that GTAIV was unlikely to make the holidays.  Back then there was all sorts of shareholder grumblings about board changes and the possibility of hostile takeovers (which eventually proved justified thanks to EA).

TT simply couldn't wait until April of this year to get their hands on some cash.

Quite true. 4 million sales in 12 months in no good for current cashflow.

Actually come to think of it something in the 3-4gig range wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Especially now that they're selling Xbox Originals over Live.

If MS are canny, they could release a HDD preloaded with the DLC.

This would mean that GTAIV: Vice city would launch in August, and GTAIV: San andreas by the end of the year.

I just don't think that they'd milk all they can out of this franchise in under a year.

I seriously doubt it will be anything like Vice City or San Andreas, cause releasing these as full games would get them revenues close to 1 billion dollars, why would they settle for 50 million instead? Also creating a new city actually sounds like a lot of work and not something which can be done in a few months time. I could imagine creating a new story within the same city though, that seems a lot less time consuming to me.

R* have said that they're interested in moving to episodic games, like Halflife 2.

I am waiting for official word from rockstar before I believe any of these numerous rumors. That said, for $20 I would expect at least an expanded city and maybe 20 hours of additional game play.

I highly doubt this + SONY would definitely do something..+ I can#t beleive they have an equivalent of GTA VS or GTA SA ready by August..only what 3 months after GTA IV's launch

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Considering publisher/devs get around 15% of a game's price, they would have to sell over 5 millions units on the PS3 at 70 dollars to get those 50 millions dollars back. Not even mentionning the money they'll get from the DLC...

So of course, it would be (easily ?) possible, but the MS deal was already very interesting, even more if you consider Take2 has been in the red for the last 3 years...
