So much noise for a rumour? I'll wait for official word, thanks. Althougth I wonder, if the DLC would be this why aren't they (Microsoft) heavily advertising this NOW?

A whole city sounds a lot more as an EXPANSION than simple "DLC", really....

I can almost guarantee everyone this is coming from what 360 PR said at GDC when they said "our DLC is going to be big. just like how VC was big to GTA3 think of it like that" and everyone was like "OMG GTA4 DLC IS GOING TO BE AS BIG AS 2 NEW GAMES DLC FTW LOLZ!!?!?!?!"

This would explain why microsoft is quiet and has their feet up on the table as PS3 outsells is a little bit more every week...

I like how people argue that the 360 arcade is the cheapest way to play GTAIV AND then start talking about dlc. A big portion of their user base wont even be able to get and use the dlc to begin with.

But why would take two take fifty million dollars, when they could easily sell two three or four million units on the PS3 and easily make that back... 


Considering publisher/devs get around 15% of a game's price, they would have to sell over 5 millions units on the PS3 at 70 dollars to get those 50 millions dollars back. Not even mentionning the money they'll get from the DLC...

So of course, it would be (easily ?) possible, but the MS deal was already very interesting, even more if you consider Take2 has been in the red for the last 3 years...

Because they needed to pay the bills now and not when GTA was out?

I don't think it will be a new city... though i do think the content will be HUGE.  Perhaps a few new areas in the city, some extra storylines possibly told through other characters and a few new ites here and there.

Dan Houser said that the DLC will be worth the money paid but he also said:

"The game that you buy on the disc is the game. The extra stuff doesn't exist yet, but it exists in our heads... It's cool stuff. It doesn't undermine the individual game."

Adding what amounts to a complete game only to one system will undermine the original game. Him also suggesting the the disc IS the game further shows that they are looking at adding side missions and side stories rather than full blown cityscapes and additional main story.

 

EDIT: I think anything added to just the 360 in DLC will not effect the main cannon of the storyline and likely be new multiplayer modes/missions.

Well I think giving GTA4 on 360 Halo 3 budget for advertising says it all. That game was the biggest advertised game ever.

Unless there is  a one month ban on what exactly the content is so that Take 2 can be assured that they don't piss off any PS3 fans until after they've bought the game.

I'd just like to say to ant nieve PS3 fanboy. Yes it may suck if you love Sony. But MS payed more than the budget for nearly all current gen games (aside from a few) to get exclusive something. Now there is no way in hell that it is just a few side missions. It will be substantial stuff. If you dont think that, then you will be sorely disappointed when it's released. And I hate to say it but 50 mill gets you more than timed exclusive.
