I don't mind using less power, as I believe they are just talking about standby power. Maybe wattage per Tflop, though I doubt that one. However, I am not going to be buying their games if they start inserting preachy messages about recycle, reuse, reduce. We got it. That shit has been hammered into us since the 90s. If someone hasn't started doing it on their own by now, having a video game character preach it to them isn't going to work. And they definitely better not start preaching about global warming during a game.

Whats wrong with that? it wont effect how powerfull the system is, it ll just use less electristiy when its not playing games.
Again I ask you, how can anyone be against that? Thats good for everyone (less $ on electristy), and the enviroment.

Lets say they sell another 100m+ units of PS5.
IF every PS5 uses like 5watts less in sandby/idle than the PS4..... that adds up, to quite abit of power saved.

A lot over reactions. Every gen console makers give sinppets of info of what's great about the new console. This is just another feature. Some will be happy as it consumes less power and is cheaper to run, others as its greener. It's only a big deal if you make it one.

Of course, Sony isn't doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, since shareholders are shareholders no matter if you own Sony or Shell stock. They know it is a good move before the public, some triggered folks aside.

I would rather have they focus on power and the quality of the games. But sure I can understand they being on the bandwagon to keep social talk not against them.

Like other has mentioned it's just an improvement of standby mode like on PS4 . The console itself when it's running will be the same as powerful or more compare to PS4 

I'm more concerned about price and game selection. I never use standby mode anyway. I also download my games, I don't buy the plastic cases with plastic blurays.

so the ps4 uses 150w while playing. while a rx 5700 has tdp of 180w, without rest of the system. good luck trying to top that without getting a weak console. unless they are talking about different things.

I really hope TLoU 2 has a message about saving the planet and sustainability. The reactions would be golden.
