Forums - Politics Discussion - Salon Closed after Refusing to Wax Trans Woman's Scrotum

@gergroy - completely agree with u on this one. It is quite common to have female only salons and it is entirely logical to me that someone who is used to females may balk at a person with male parts.

It seems to me that the transgender activist seems to have possibly baited the salon owner and wants money for compensation. Called her a "neo-naz" -i mean really?

The transgen should be sued for slander when claiming the owner is neonazi.

And I'm in favor of the freedom of association.

Seems like discrimination cause the persom was trans. Probably should have been fined before being forced to close shop.

How exactly was it discrimination?  If somebody doesn’t want to touch the opposite genders genitals they should not be forced to.

The appointment had been made through phone already.  The person decided not when they realized the customer was trans.

She should be able to pick and choose who her clients are, this is a very personal business she works in. Besides women only waxing is quite common, in this article though, i didn't see that mentioned.

Yes, because she would be having to wax a dong.  That’s not discrimination, it is a very different service then what she thought she had booked.  Something that again, somebody should not be forced to provide if it isn’t something that is already offered.  It sounds like she wouldn’t do it for any male.  Doesn’t matter if the person identifies as female.  It is still a dong.

"That’s not discrimination"

its discrimination on the basis of genitals, the argument for trans people is that we should instead of discriminating on the basis of genitals discriminate on self identification

Can a trans woman sue a doctor for discrimination after the doctor refuses to do a pap smear?

I'd like to think 'no' since I would imagine most, if not all, trans women don't have a cervix.

I have no doubt if the individual was a true trans, as in actually transitioned, the salon would have done it. They may not even have noticed if they weren't told. The fact is, this person isn't an actual transgender. They are either a transvestite if they have done nothing but put on a dress, or in the process of transitioning if they have started the process. Words actually mean something. This ridiculous trend of letting people choose the definitions they prefer for medical words has to stop.

I remember my sister self-identified as a horse when she was a kid. Also no-one believed me when I identified as good-looking.

It's okay, I believe you.
