banning people for calling an obvious troll a troll has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever come across on any forum

"This place is getting deserted..."

Yeah I kind of noticed, place was way more bustling with activity and threads and stuff a couple years ago and I thought I wouldn't bring this point forth cause it's a bit embarrassing for the forum if you know what I mean. But since somebody else did, I guess it's kind of okay to talk about it.

So what can we do for this community and its protracted demise?

Hmm... Oh oh oh, I have an idea. It's not much though but please think of this as my small and humble contribution to the slow agony of this forum. How about some mod BANS the fuck out of my account? I mean PERMA-BAN of course? I'm not kidding, please perma-ban this account forthwith!

Having no propensity for necrophilia, I have no need to witness this forum's slow descent into morbid emptiness so I'll show myself to the door.

Just don't forget to perma-lock behind me okay guys? So I don't randomly make the mistake of checking back here a few months or a year down the line when all the dust has settled. You wouldn't want that anymore than I do.

Cheers

Reeeelaaax. I know it can be frustrating to be modded. Most times it's happened to me, I've been fine with it. The one time I wasn't, I explained my post to CGI, and he and the team overturned it. I DO get why I was modded, and how the mod missed my sarcasm and satire in a sea of vulgarity. I was probably lucky to have it overturned. :) If you feel like your last one was undeserved, send a PM to a mod. Just be a good boy, build up your credibility, and eventually you'll be close to bulletproof. Like me!

Yea I have no problem with some of my bans.  Heck I probably should have been banned more.  There was one that was semi vulgar that I got banned for that I didn't think was that bad but I can kind of see why it resulted in a ban.  Trying to be more upbeat like I used to.  My downfall was posting while drunk.  I've cut out my drinking so my posting is improving.

Most of my more shameful posts have been made while drunk. And good for you boss. Less drinking is a plus, and so is trying to be more upbeat.

Hmm... how about calling a halt to any and all political talk? No-one would be alienated that way and people would get along a bit better.

Well, why complain about a forum that you say you're mostly staying away from? That's with all due respect and a genuine question. This is on top of the fact that plenty of other forums moderate users for calling people trolls.

For perspective, threads like these were shut down by previous mod teams because it would turn into this and we already have The Moderator Thread. So, if it continues to head in this direction, I probably won't leave it open. That is not to say that I oppose a lot of the reasonable issues brought up in here. It is mostly agreed upon unanimously that the site could use some major revisions, but we aren't going to use this thread to complain about moderations.

That he doesnt spend most his time hear doesnt invalidate his point... What logic is that?

There is a general disinterest in videogames on this site. This sites loves discussion about companies behind these videogames/consoles, political threads which are just dominating..... very embarrassing, and ....... list threads. That is all this site is willing to participate in.

Recently:
Astral Chain was released - No discussion thread
Judgment was released - No discussion thread
Gears 5 was released - No discussion thread

Why? I remember a time where official threads/leagues were made for top releases. Now no one wants anything to do with videogames focused threads unless its listing something and the users who make these list threads cant even be original enough not to ask us what is our FUCKIN FAVORITE FINAL FANTASY GAME IS, WHAT GAME DID YOU LIKE BUT NO ELSE DID? (or vice versa) like these and all of its variations have not been ask a million times before.

Then there is the idea that were called VG "Chartz", but the Chartz part is like 90% dead. There is still hardware but were a month behind so who cares. Has anybody considered a rebranding of this site? Redefine what this site is about? We don't need to drop the sales part, but pretending as if it is still a major focus is just not excepting the truth.

On top of that there is the fact that this site feels old. The last 10 years has seen a major shift into what is good web design; Simple but stylish, uncluttered and easy to use... this site is not. Reset Era is a site that I think does all that well.

We need to find out what we want this site stand for and then start working from there.

I, for one, agree.

This needs to be an ASTRAL CHAIN BRANDED SITE!

I couldn't agree more with this, though I don't mind list threads

This site is too broad, yet not niche enough to be effective

You can't really discuss much about new or existing games that you really enjoy when there isn't really any conversation. If I wanted to talk about Splatoon 2, I would basically have 3 options: make a new thread, use the nation thread, or use the official splatoon thread. A lot of options, but none really garners much discussion.
- A new thread to talk about a specific topic will be good, but once that topic has been discussed, that's basically the end of the conversation and thread
- Nation thread is good for talking about small stuff, but if you comment at a wrong time, your message could be buried by another ongoing topic
- The Official thread is dead

Alternatively, I could go to elsewhere and actually talk to people that are actually interested, and can set up matches and what not. Unfortunately, that is the reason why I don't even lurk much on this site anymore.
