Considering it isn't real life I was also laughing of the scene and how everybody was so full on Dany to end up being blind. And not to forget almost all on her army accepted quite well her madness and started slain people when she started firing even without any provocation.

This is standard, though. Cities don't simply surrender after a siege begins. The idea anyone was even entertaining to accept a post-siege surrender, and not the massacre, is the unusual part. The only way it would have been more or less historically feasible is if the Lannister army stormed the Red Keep and tossed Cersei and Euron's heads in Daenerys lap after the siege began, but before the walls were taken.

Daenerys was always more enlightened than 99.99% of medieval rulers, who most certainly would have destroyed and killed far, far more than she has. Of course, that's before obliterating King's Landing as if she had been Genghis Khan or Cato the Elder all along.

You could try to argue they have developed different morals, but everything we know about Westeros and Essos such as the destruction of the Castameres and everything sadistically done to slaves in Essons point to these people being even more depraved and vicious than their real life counterpart cultures.

Cities may not simply surrender. But this one have after the destruction of only some strategic portions. And the army just dropped sword. After that Dany goes berserk (I don't mind as I was expecting it, but as said the trigger was a little odd) and her soldiers start killing unarmed surrendered guys.

Yes Dany is less savage than those rulers, killing the slave owners and opposing families aren't that problematic, but it were cracks in the armor that she wasn't perfect and lovely ruler.

This season is sadly the worse of the entire series, and feels completely off in terms of pacing, writing, dialogue, plot, character development, and editing. The spectacle is at its best, but I never expected such a downward spiral for the series.

I'm not even interested in the final episode. This really does feel like comparing SW Episode 1 to Episode 4. It feels similar, but it is way way off.

It is sad the series was ruined so badly.

- There was no proper trigger
This is crazy, as this is the most basic thing they should provide for her snap. They could have killed Missandei, or Rhaegal, or both, in this episode. That could work. Looking her final enemy surrender and realizing her conquest is over, does not.

- ''Her throne is threatened by Jon''
Really, I don't see how. Dany has two armies completely loyal to her and a dragon. Show tries to push a lot that Jon is more loved than her, but that is only true with MCs and the North (where we have like 200 left after the battle of bastards and the great war).

- Mad doesn't need to mean retarded
If she had went straight for Cersei/Red Keep and killed thousands of innocents by destroying it and letting it fall in the city, or maybe by setting off wildfire, it would still be bad enough, without looking this forced.

- We don't see Emilia Clark during the snap
This might be the worst in this shitstorm. I mean, this must be one of the character most defining points, but we never get to see her face during the hell itself. To me this proves how weak the writting was. In the end they could not decide what Dany should be feeling when killing children, so they could not put Emilia on cam. Was she enjoying it? Was she feeling remorse? Was she just blind by anger?

yeap, agree with your main points, it's kinda disappointing the final season is out of touch

I believe most of it was to shock viewers as usual, but this time it really didn't make any logic and was unnecessary if you think it is the end of the show

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains and the Mad Queen of Ashes.

But she might have to strike "Protector of the Seven Kingdoms" from her name.

This turn of events has been hinted at repeatedly since Dany got her dragons. The showrunners have made it extra obvious since she came to Westeros. I'm not sure how you think this is a sudden heel turn.

come ooon, that was pure bullshit, i can understand being a bit mad and overdoing it with fear etc so the story unfolds towards the show's end but destroying the best of what she is supposed to rule at that point makes no damn logic and was made purely for viewer's shock factor on which the whole series was always based on (unless she somehow makes sense in the last episode)

one of the reasons why Breaking Bad has higher rankings overall even though its production budget is abysmal compared to GoT

It makes sense in the context of everything that has lead up to this battle. Even early on Dany has a rather vengeful attitude and narcissistic personality but her most horrifying desires are kept in check by her closest and most trusted advisors. Jorah, Ser Barriston Selmy, and Tyrion all gave her council to show leniency, mercy or generally good advice (e.g Jorah's "There are good and evil people on every side of a war", something she doesn't seem particularly convinced by). The first two are gone and the third she no longer trusts.

When she conquered cities in Essos, she was also welcomed, then loved by the former slaves which plays to her narcissistic personality. At the same time, she was indiscriminately brutal on the slave masters, regardless of their previous actions. A fact Ser Barristan pointedly makes and pulls her back from further brutality until his death. With the Dothraki she's worshipped as some sort of warrior goddess after she burns the Khals.

Now look at what's happened since she's come to Westeros. Instead of worshipping her as their rightful leader Cersei wages a propaganda campaign against her so she's feared. Tyrion's advice becomes less reliable resulting in significant losses to her allies to the point she no longer trusts him. She burns both Tarly's for not bending the knee. She then falls for Jon which ultimately results in her losing one of her dragons (one of the biggest symbols of her power). Then this season she finds out that she's no longer the strongest claim for the throne (and the person who is the right heir is well loved in Westeros). She loses another dragon, she loses the last of her most trusted advisors with the final one essentially telling her to burn the city down before her death (and coming from someone who was effectively a pacifist). She comes to accept the fact that she'll never be loved in Westeros in the same way as Jon. There is no one left that she would trust enough to keep her most brutal desires in check.

In the final battle before she loses it, I saw all of the above coming to a head. This then combined with the fact that she realizes she could have done this from the start and the extra symbolism of the Red Keep as the catalyst/place where her family was killed starting everything bad that has ever happened in her life and I don't think it's any surprise that she completely lost it.

You know.. I don't have an issue with Daenerys going mad because I was actually expecting it. My issue is that she going to the darkside made all the other characters look like complete morons. Specially Tyrion, I mean, how come Tyrion did not see that coming? In fact, the show led me to believe that Tyrion was doubting her a long time ago. I mean, everytime she did or said something weird we would get a Close Up of Tyrion looking at her with a worrisome expression on his face. But no, all of a sudden he is the most loyal person on earth, going to the point of betraying the man who actually saved his life.

And then he was standing there like: "Oh my man, I know you have good intentions and all, and I know you saved my life once.. but now you are threatening my queen man. And I know she is a bit cray cray but she is my queen now. So I guess you have to die. Sorry"

That's when the show lost me. After that I just didn't care anymore. In fact, when all the massacre was happening I just couldn't stop laughing.

Well, apparently Jon and Tyrion are there to represent the 50% of the audience that didn't see it coming!

I actually find Tyrion's arc to be quite interesting. He's gone from one of the most devious and clever characters to one of the most naive and foolish in direct relation to him becoming more loyal and humane (which I guess most would see as positive character traits). Then again, it could just the volume of wine he's drinking.

T'was but a single city of a mere 1 million peasants. What is one City in comparison to protecting the rest of the Seven Kingdoms from the White Walkers?

Well, historically the city guard would likely still be executed after the surrender.

But I see what you mean and... indeed. Which makes the screenwriters choice for the precise timing of even more baffling and clearly for shock purposes. It's deliberately forced so no one in the audience is supposed to sympathize with her after that. There's no moral shade of grey. At no moment your convictions are challenged. To people who claimed the White Wakers and the NK weren't interesting because it was manichaeistic... well, there we have it.

Honestly, Attack of the Clones, the second Star Wars prequel, with all of its flaws, actually manages to first showcase Anakin's issues, motivations and inner conflicts better than anything done with Daenerys in the last two or three seasons (which was basically looking depressed and snapping at Tyrion everytime he comes up with his idiotic ideas). Revenge of the Sith, then, it's Shakespeare next to this.

And saying the season having only 6 episodes isn't enough to develop the madness of her is also bad point, this gives over 7h of show. A movie have to do all that in under 1h30 and several do it greatly.

I just realized that overall Euron Greyjoy did more damage to Dany than the Night King and the army of the undead.

And Dany probably doesn't even remember his name and face.

They ruined Jamie, Cercei and Danny in a single episode, the snap was fucking stupid, why not go straight to Cercei and blew that shit out . But is completely stupid Danny would murder the intire fucking city , makes no fucking sense . The worst moment i ever seen on a séries. She won and made decision to murder everyone makes no sense. Mad is not completely retarded.
