I'm still in shock because of this trailer. I was just walking and thought to myself "Did that really happen?" I haven't been this excited in a longgggg time

Meh.
I mean, I feel like a hypocrite because I was super excited about Cloud.
That said, this is extremely odd. At least in Cloud's case Final Fantasy had *some* history with Nintendo, even if not Cloud.
This feels more like a promotion for a game that isn't even on Nintendo. Did Nintendo actually pay to have a character like this included?

Nope. Remember Solid Snake and Cloud in Smash.

Gamecube have a MGS game; Cloud was on Chain of Memories, Recoded, FF Explorer, Theatrhythm FF. They still follow the rules of Smash

You forget Persona Q2, Joker is one of the MCs

Yeah, but that's a spin off, and isn't even out in the west yet. His history with Nintendo is super slim, BUT I COULD NOT CARE LESS

Persona is a spin off of SMT and Persona 5 joker is the most popular character of the franchise like cloud is to FF. You can look at it that way. Also to add in that Joker is from a jrpg that is popular in the west only after Pokemon/FF and maybe tied with FE
