I've never loved a game so much that has so many poor design decisions and frustrating systems. Thankfully, for the stuff that doesn't get better as the game progresses, they should be easily rectified if Rockstar can hear the complaints through the noise.

I respect that you atleast acknowledge that it has so many issues and systems that come in the way of having fun. That is all sometimes people ask when the defense force strikes. Lot of good things but some very poor design.

this game has so many frustrating moments but still I can't stop playing. even if at times I just have to reset the game because of said moments and load up previous save .. I'm just blown away by the details. Some parts in the game look rough but most of it looks astonishing especially on XB1X. I like this more than Witcher III and maybe more than AC Origins and perhaps BoTW.

Nice shots! Have you tried disabling HDR on the XBX? (Seems to be missing in game settings, you have to do it in system settings) That improves black level, it seems rather bright in town at night in that gif. Unfortunately HDR doesn't seem to add anything and only ruins deep blacks. Besides that you are restricted to YUV422 in HDR, half the color information for the horizontal axis instead of 4:4:4 full RGB. With HDR you basically throw half the advantage the X has away. (You still get 3840x2160 grey scale, yet only 1920x2160 color with HDR on, unless you use a HDMI 2.1 display)

I reload more in this game than any other, and avpid story missions more than in any other. At least it leads to many creative ways to have fun!

Yeah, for sure there is, the goodness helps to divert away from the frustrations mostly or I wouldn't still be playing. I wasn't defending the game above out of fanboyism, I was just giving it the benifet of the doubt as so much of the flaws I and others had at that start, did clear up but now at 75% story competition and 60+ overall all completion there are still too many frustrations that followed through and I can no longer give the benifet and certain things like the bounty system, the horse auto store weapons, the AI's awareness, the outdated failure state of missions etc  are still headache inducing. Hopefully they fix it up to make the end game less frustrating and a second playthrough.

Everything in the above reply is my opinion, from my own perspective and not representative of reality outside of my own head!

-Android user, please be gentle with critique on my spelling.

I'm still very early on, in chapter two. I've spent a lot of time exploring and hunting. But so far it's amazing and I've read it only gets better.

These games and the Fallout series really just obliterate what other developers try to do with open world games imho.

That's true.  I know it's offtopic, but when you mentioned Fallout, I couldn't resist : I can't wait for Fallout5, really !

Getting RDR2 in a week or two.

Those were taken on SDR 1080p with no HDR.  Your the first whose commented on them being too bright and they are compared to the originals but they got deleted once I made the gifs.   Personally I think the brightness looks right on my temporary TV especially when the photos seems to fall in line with other gamers brightness setting.  I use Imgur to make my gifs and although this sounds strange sometimes Imgur seems temperamental as results tend to vary depending on the in-game terrain setting I guess. I also try gifycat but Imgur is my goto most of the time.

That looks like the correct black level. I have that problem with you tube as well sometimes where it messes up the black. Gif also compresses the hell out if it as well as you tube, often adding color banding that's not there in the original. This gen video tech clearly lags behind what consoles can produce. It wasn't that long ago that videos made games look better than they actually were. How fast things progress!

I 'wasted' hours again recording a couple days of timelapse footage overlooking Valentine. I figured out how to avoid the auto rest messing up the view, stand right on the edge of a cliff to prevens it. You still have to whistle your horse every 2 minutes to avoid cinematic view taking over. In other words, I've been cleaning up and doing other stuff while pressing up on the d-pad every 90 seconds lol.

So far it seems weather patterns are linked to areas. Twin Rocks is most stable with always the same type of weather, while Valentine has chance of slight rain and fog. Flat Iron lake seems to have the possibility of the biggest storms. That's the only place I remember seeing lightning. The bayou is mostly foggy which can drift into saint denis.

Weather is very realistic, only thing is the transitions can be quite odd when sped up. It's definitely the most impressive weather engine yet.

What the fuck is up with this game's item sorting? Hair tonic is in the kit menu and I've literally been wondering for like hours how to use a hair tonic because every tonic, even the ones that don't affect your health/stamina/dead eye is in the tonic menue EXCEPT the hair tonic. And watches are in the "kit" section even though they're just valuables that you don't use. Like what ...
