Forums - Gaming Discussion - GoW (PS4) versus Zelda:BOTW

It all depends on which type of game you like better. I prefer cinematic games with some freedom over full open world games most of the time. So I would probably prefer GOW over BoTW. Others prefer BoTW over GOW, since they like that type of game more. I would say you could better compare GOW, with Uncharted 4 or Bloodborne, since they are way more similar. Even HZD would be a way better comparison for GOW than Zelda.

At the end of the road all of the games I named are pretty great, so it doesn't actually matter all that much.

So what if you prefer linear story games but still like Zelda more?

They are quite difrent for direct comparable, saying that Zelda BotW definitely has bigger critical praise and done few things best until now like giving player biggest freedom and best exploration until now.

Than Zelda is the better game for you, doesn't mean it's the better game in general. There are probably some people out there who usually prefer open world games but prefer GOW over Zelda, HZD and the Witcher 3. When games are universally loved usually taste decides which game you end up finding better.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Both games are awesome because they both set out to be a certain type of game and excel at it like no other games before them.

Both are different games in concept and execution, and both manage to be unmatched in their respective style and genre.

So you can't form or articulate an opinion of your own...

/you

We're excited about the new God of War. It's understandable as it's an awesome experience that seemlessly blends story with action. Let's give it time for the newness to die down. It's too early to tell, in my opinion.

Whenever we have these ______ is better than ______ threads, it makes my magnify the flaws in something I love rather than enjoy the positive points.

Well I am not sure a consensus ever makes a game "better in general". But your logic makes sense.

If Zelda BotW would have an interesting story and characters it most certainly would improve the game. On the other hand, if God of War would be fully open-world game it most likely would make the game worse.

I would say that interesting story and characters are the hardest part to achieve when making a game. And the level of graphics/environment detail that God of War has is more impressive than BotW. Gameplay/combat is great in both.

So to me God of War easily beats BotW.

- Single-player Game

I'm a life long Zelda fan and a God of War fan and I think both series are awesome. Whether you think open worlds are better than story or vice versa here is something we can look at.

GoW is a 95 on metacritic
BoTW is a 97 on metacritic

So both games are great but Zelda clearly wins here.
