Holy shit. Megaton scores. Sony does it again. All bow down.

My streak of never regretting a pre order continues it seems. I know a good game when I see one.

Day 1 is 100 % sure <3

Don't most GoW games score really good on metacritic, that would be like expecting a 3d Mario game to not score very high. Its probably the most iconic franchise Sony has that's associated with the brand...

Holy shit jesus!!! Those are incredible scores!!!!! All hail odin!

Blasphemy..... all hail Kratos.

He's a god afterall....

The question is.... who takes it in a fight to the death?

Odin:
The All-father (hes a mix between a vanir god+ one of the first frost giant's, and the start of the Aesir bloodline)
a ruler of gods (and he's actually also a war-god).
Hes supposedly values knowledge above all else, and sacrificed one of his eye's for it.
(these gods arnt spirits in the sky, their flesh and blood, liveing beings, hes not all-knowing but probably as close as its possible to get as a living being)

In a rpg, he would be a really powerfull mage.... or a battle-mage or something, useing shamanistic magic and that Spear of his (gungir).
He has 2 spirit ravens (Hugin & munin (thought and memory?) and consults with valkyries (spirit beings, akin to angels).

Odin’s name can be translated as “Master of Ecstasy/Fury/inspiration” (from óðr) + the suffix -inn (the masculine)
So his name means something like the master of / the perfection of + Fury/inspiration/ecstasy.

A show down between him and Kratos would be epic.

It just recieved another 10/10 from gamer.no, maybe it gets bumped up to 95 now once MC adds it? :D

I'm all for praising Sony but Santa Monica is the real MVP here, they seem to have reinvented GoW and proved people wrong, specially after the fairly heavy criticism that it was another TLoU wanna be.

Getting it day one, can't wait to play it. I'm a sucker for a good emotional journey.

Didn't santa Monica blow 50m on a new ip that failed and had to be canned? Sony are probably the ones that encouraged them to make another god of war and in all liklihood greenlit a more modern gameplay approach after seeing the success of uncharted and the last of us.

All of this is pretty irrelevant because Santa Monica IS Sony.

HOLY CRAP!

The funny thing about this is that I actually didn't care for the first three God of War games. I hate Kratos as a character, I thought the combat was needlessly simplistic, focusing on style over substance to a really nasty degree, and I hated the story. The puzzles were boring and simple, and I felt that other action/hack'n'slash games did what God of War were trying to do with more style and more substance.

But this? This interests me because it's so very clearly meant to be unlike those games. The gameplay isn't frenetic, super-fast paced, or overtly stylish; instead, it's slowed down, more methodical, and more weighty. The story seems to be less about Kratos mindlessly killing everyone because he's a killer and got 'tricked' into killing someone, and more about putting that behind him so that he might raise a kid. He's already gone through and killed all the Greek gods, so I guess it makes sense that he goes after Norse gods.

So yeah, really excited for this one. I can't wait to play it!

best reviewed game this year so for right?
quite the achivement
