Siwtch's holiday sales this year are going to be completely absurd. I won't be surprised if it sets a new record for a system during q4.

Isn't holiday actually Q3? I can see Switch maybe breaking its own gen record this holiday, but the all time record by Wii is untouchable.

I'm kinda surprised the $35 gift card promotion for Switch is attractive enough to entice more consumers. Sure, its basically a few free games from the eshop, but its not necessarily a must get, even at this time of year. Kudos to whoever thought of using a $35 gift card as an enticing promotion, especially after the huge holiday explosion that was Smash Bros. and Switch.

I didn't think much of the $35 promotion originally either.  However, I think this can also be treated as a $35 discount on a game of the person's choice.  A person who really wanted something like a Zelda bundle, for example, could download Zelda and already have $35 credit toward that.

Holiday is Q4 of the calendar year, Q3 of the fiscal year.

Well, it can be seen as a 35$ discount for everybody who doesn't just play physical. Combine it with the sale in the eShop in February and you could get some great game with it.

The $35 gift card is like a temporary $35 price cut. Who buys a switch without a Mario / Smash / Pokemon game ?

Well that only applies for digital gamers since it's an eShop card, for physical only gamers there is no savings.

This shows that a 50$ price cut could be insane for the console.

And then go a step beyond that and imagine what a revision+$50 price cut combo will do.

I think that's just really not necessary. I mean they could do that if they want the Switch to die after like 5 years but i think they will try to keep it alive for longer (since with only 1 console now if the next one fails they won't have an handheld to save them so might as well take profit of the Switch while it last).

Price cut might happen but i feel like a revision isn't reallly necessary tbh, Switch is great like it is and people love it. Maybe a smaller and cheaper one ?
