Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 Won February NPD (PS4: 363K, XBO: 310K, NSW: 279K)

I don’t understand all the hate. All three did great. Sony makes the best home consoles

Losing momentum can only be done by the sales of the console itself.
If you would have said losing marketshare you would have been spot on

if you compare it to sales last year, switch was at 910k by the end of march, this year it will be down from last year for sure at the same time frame.

Gee whizz the console being down yoy from its launch month? How strange >< you recon that doesnt mean the extra supply is going to be sold during other moments this year, big releases and did you check historical 2nd year holiday sales? And before you start yes they stockpiled for the launch.

Of course it will down because last march was its launch. Not a valid comparison by any means. Start with April on.

Janruary-February-March for PS4 in 2014 was less compared to its launch month. Doesnt mean it was losing momentum.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

PS4 maybe losing momentum but the thing is super old and still top of the heap. I’m amazed that there are this many people who don’t already have it and are still buying it. Everyone I know who’s a gamer has one even if they don’t play it.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

Still as bad as Quickrich saying the Switch is loseing moment (because it had 1 bad month of sales).
Your takeing 2 months and saying "loseing momentum" for PS4.

Do you see the irony?

Full picture:
PS4 is still 299$, has price cuts comeing this year, has God of War + Spiderman..... theres little reason to assume it ll be down YoY (ei. Loseing momentum).

It isn't irony. It is trolling by employing the same or very similar logical fallacies. The reasons you use to explain the PS4 all apply to Switch as well. Switch has even an additional reason, namely the lack of holiday deals in 2017 which is something that won't be the case this year and therefore lead to a notable jump in November sales.

By the way, Switch didn't even have a bad month at 279k units sold. It ranks #2 only behind the Wii in the category "first February" among all consoles starting with the DS, so that's a rather big sample size.

Okay then please stop trolling.

Using Ryng Tolu's estimates for Jan/Feb, here are the YTD numbers rounded to the nearest 5k.

PS4, ~620k (up from ~610k)
NSW, ~550k
XBO, ~545k (up from ~370k)

All 3 are doing great. PS4 is pretty stable, X model and promotions are giving XBO a strong increase and Switch had a solid first Jan/Feb.

Looks like its going to be a very good year for the console industry.

PS4 Loseing momentum but its up Year on Year.

ps2, ps4, wii and 360 all had supply issues. i remember correctly switch was suppose to dominate ps4 this year, according to most predictions, yet it's much lower then ps4 average feb.

I don't think its unfair to say ps4 is losing a bit of momentum compared to last year, of course that can easily change.

Supposedly its up YoY in 2018, from 2017's (jan+feb).

So yeah I think its unfair to say (when you can check numbers and they say otherwise).
Factor in God of War + Spiderman..... Im pretty sure it ll be slightly up atleast by end of year.

it wasn't. ps4 did 914k with supply issues, and switch got a extra week on top of that.

2018 covers nine weeks due a five-week-January. 2017 covers only eight weeks of sales.

First 2 months 2018 vs 2017.... its not 2018's fault theres a 5week jan.
Its just a fact, its up YoY so far.
