Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Hardware Sales 3 February 2018

Here is a helpful sales tidbit for the person doing the numbers in Europe. switch sold 911,000 by the end of 2017 in france, its strongest market in europe. it needed 2 months to reach a million, so it's selling 11k a week in France alone, you guys probably know this already though.

Uhmmm...interesting. I believe this gives some insight on why the Switch was able to win Jan NPD in the USA. Simply put, the Xbox is strong enough there that even when important games are launching (such as MHW) at this stage of the consoles life cicle, the console with the lowest price will have to most significant benefit. Well, it's not really surprising.

Not sure if im understanding you, are you saying Switch won because its the cheapest of the 3?

No, he was saying that the X1S being 75-100 dollars cheaper than PS4 likely made it compete much harder than if it had been similarly priced with the PS4. The X1 and PS4 are direct competition since they are both powerful dedicated home consoles that share a very similar library of games after all.

Yea xbox being much cheaper is really hurting ps4 sales. the market is getting too saturated  for both to be doing good in the US, when you combine the 2, sales were really low last year.

Did the report give a specific date of when it passed 1 million?

Why so obsessed with how many products a company sells? Are you as bothered by how many microwaved Samsung has sold??

You’re aware you’re on a sales website, right?!

I am indeed. But it’s kinda odd that’s all when people on here seem a little too obsessed that one is “kicking the ass” out of another console.

I’m glad tho to see Nintendo doing well.

Nintendo France CEO only said "we sold above 1 million units last week" and the newspaper was published this monday morning, so it's arround february 15.

It's quicker than PS4 by the way, which reached 1 million unit sold in 13 months
