January was a 5-week month for NPD this year, as opposed to the normal 4 weeks, so "best January to date" doesn't mean much in and of itself. It could have sold 160k, but that means that, when correcting for it being a 5-week month, this January would actually be worst than last. Unless it sold at least 197k, then in terms of weekly average sales, it will be down YoY. We'll have to wait until if and when we get any numbers, but let's not get too excited over "best January to date" yet, especially considering what the XBO's performance last year was like (it appears to have already exhausted its sales potential at $279).

Try to make a positive comment about Xbox without shooting down another console and still get kicked off the ladder... every time.

and while that is true hasn't it been confirmed that January was 1 million consoles sold. I'm not sure if that includes 3ds but even if it does that leaves about 850-900k left for switch/PS4/Xbox. And since we know revenue was within 3% from 1st to 3rd. The way I see it the only way Xbox could sell under 200k units is if the x was more way more than half of all xbox's sold. I highly doubt that. But someone fee free to tell me Xbox didn't sell nearly as much as the other consoles. But remember by doing that you are also saying X dominated.

super nes, and 3ds is included.

I accounted 100-150k for them. I thought that was a little much.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

The fear is real. It will be fun to watch Switch grabbing 80% of NPDs this year.

And it's an unreasonable fear: WW they're basically neck-and-neck, so it's not like anyone is getting killed here.

have you seen the last WW numbers, ps4 nearly doubled switch.

the number could be as high as 300k, we really don't know,  super nes is still sold out everywhere, nintedo has been shipping 150-200k a month since release.

Yeah, but isn't that just the MHW bump?

Prior to that, it was basically a dead heat.

its best to use official numbers from nintendo/sony, i really have no idea why switch is doing better in europe then NA all of a sudden, when the data we have clearly shows thats not happening.

He didn't say that.  He just said there is nothing indicating that Switch is doing significantly better compared to the other consoles.

Edit - The nonsense over the last few pages is embarrassing.

he just replied to me saying Xbox One taking the moth is absolutely a possibility imo.

X1 possibly selling the most with a price cut does not necessarily mean Switch won't do well in February.  X1 can sell the most and Switch can perform well.  They aren't mutually exclusive outcomes.

yea it's just his first statement made it seem like it wasn't doing that hot, as always we need NPD numbers, its a shame we won't get anything for Jan.

I just interpreted it as him trying to reel in expectations.  The person he responded to was saying February was going to be huge for Switch, and Benji was mostly saying Switch actually shouldn't be that far off from the other consoles.  It could just be a repeat of January with all 3 doing well and the difference between them (in units or revenue) shouldn't be all that big.

But yeah, I wish we had more transparency for numbers as well.
