It looks nice. I was watching one of our very own members stream it early this morning on the Pro. Picking it up tomorrow.

This series really needed to be set free from the constraints of handheld tech.

Bought.

The "made for westerns" complaints are so wrong. The gameplay is very much the same but less clunky and slow from the handheld ones. Some aspects were made more convenient to speed up gameplay and enhance it.

People might just consider clunky as being Japanese.

People are just upset that this game is not on their platform of choice, no other explanation.

After reading some of the reviews, I see the series still isn't for me, even if this is the most westernized game in the series so far. Still seeing multiple reviews saying that it has complex systems that are daunting for newcomers and a steep difficulty curve. When I tried the first Monster Hunter I was scared off by the complexity and difficulty, sad to see they still haven't remedied that after all these years.

My wishlist keeps getting bigger and bigger :(

With PS4 and XBO they were able to take advantage of powerful hardware in new ways, and it seems to have paid off. At least when it comes to how critics receive it. Hopefully this will open some people's eyes up for the series that may otherwise not have been interested.

The first few months of the year has brought us a lot of 90~ish critically acclaimed games two years in a row now.
We're only 25 days in and we have two already. (This and Dragonball FighterZ.)

I'm so confused about Capcom's strategy with this game. Changing the game to appeal to the western market might not bring the results they want if they ignore part of their massive japanese audience. Is there a COMG preorders comparaison between MHW and the PSP and 3DS MHs?

Every review I've seen suggests it's still the same Monster Hunter as ever, but improved without taking away what made them great in the past.
For example, you now have the narrative presented in a more comprehensive cinematic format, so that will only help attract people who may have been on the fence before. It certainly won't drive away older fans.

Do people actually take into account for paying for PS Plus/XBL before purchasing a game? Like that's a deal breaker or something? :/

I mean its like $5/month, that's probably far less than people buying their avocado toast (referring to that thread lol) or a cup of coffee at Starbucks on a regular basis in a month.  And the free games they give you you seriously cant complain as it just pays for itself and gives back more.  Oh well, to all one's own.

OP:  Could this be the first MH to be stay above 90?  It'd be quite the accomplishment for Capcom if it does.  Hope sales will do great for this!

Still, it is something i would need to pay for, and then we are up @ ~600.. for one game.. and tbh it is the only one i want to play that i currently can't play.
so yeah, PC port it is.

Two things about that. I personally look for sales on PS+ subscriptions. I tend to buy 12 month subscriptions for around $35.
Also, even though I totally understand not wanting to pay for this feature, for me the best thing about it is the PS+ sales that are constantly popping up, and can be very very good. For example I got Resident Evil: Revelations 2 + Season pass for $6. I've definitely made my money back on it and then some, so it's a slight comfort knowing that I've actually saved money by having it.
But if you're not interested in any other games, or don't want any of them digital etc, then it's a different story.

people are streaming it already on Twitch... Gamestop sold the game 1 day early.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Was wondering why it was on twitch. I thought another beta had popped up.   95K is pretty high for one day early, gamestop only.
