Nintendo's selling cardboard, and it's going to make a killing. Why do I play video games again?

If you're into RPG games, then maybe good ol' Hiroshi Yamauchi had the answer:

Ouch.

It's not Super Smash Bros. Melee HD.

Let Melee die.

On topic, I love it. Not for me, really, but it's going to be great for my daughter and nephews to play with. Though my daughter will need her own Switch, not mine.

I believe this is the first(not sure) Nintendo video that has got into trending here in the Philippines, and it's slowly going up, from #44 2 days ago, now at #23.

Not really sure what the criticism is of cardboard. It is light, it is pliable, it is cheap, it is replaceable, it is easy to store and it is a great craft material...

Plus it's far more environmentally responsible than using mass amounts of plastic instead. At least cardboard's biodegradable.

I mentioned earlier I'd show it to my kids (ages 11, 14, 15) so I did.

15 yr old - It looks ok but idk...
14 yr old - meh
11 yr old - looks awesome, I'll get it when I buy my Switch.

So for a quick poll in my home, I think its going to hit home in its target audience.

Seems like our kids are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Your kids are or becoming a little too old (11-15) while mine are a little too young (1-5), 6-10 is probably the perfect age range for Labo.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I’m tired of people ranting about this by saying that the durability is going to be bad, that it will break easy and ripped appart. Because it’s cardboard make it more durable.

Why ? Because it’s frigging cardboard ! You can bend it, and it will not break. You step on it ? There’s a good chance that you will need to undo the thing and maybe rebuild it, but it will probable be pretty much intact.

But ok, let’s say the cardboard did ripped appart. So ? Unless it’s ripped appart in hundred of piece, what stop you to take tape and repair it ?

Nintendo will not supply you with free cardboard replacement ? Take all the parts, put them on a regular cardboard, draw around them with a pen and use scissors to make yourself a replacement kit. Better yet, scan them, print them on a regular paper and use that paper as a stencil to make parts.

The strings break ? Make a knot to repair it ? Buy more strings, it’s string, you buy a hundred meters of the stuff for 5$. Same thing with the rubber bands...

If you, or more likely your kids are enough into arts and crafting that you want to buy this, there’s a very good chance that you can come up with a repair solution in case of breaking.
