Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apparently, Nioh sucks on PC because no mouse and keyboard support?

Well, it finally happened. I finally came across a post so incredibly short-sighted that I had to register just to respond. First, Dark Souls is not a new style of game that just happened to come around in the past decade. Action RPGs have a long, long history in video gaming and they have always had a place with the PC. Ever heard of Gothic? Came out 8 years before Dark Souls. It had combat based around timing your attacks and evading the enemy. It was only on PC and most players used a mouse and keyboard. That's how PC gamers play games. Just like how console players use a controller. If it's on PC then it must have mouse and keyboard support. Just like how a console FPS must use a controller even though it may not be the best method of player input for that kind of game.

They should absolutely be torn apart by reviewers if they didn't include mouse and keyboard support in their port of Nioh.

It's a valid criticism, so what's the problem? We're talking about the default controller for PC. Some people can play those types of games with kb/m and do quite well. Not including support comes across as cheap.

it is not as common as you might think to have a gamepad for your PC.
it is the same thing as your console would only accept a keyboard & mouse for input, you'd be f*cking pissed cause you didn't even own one.

It ought to work. I've played the demo of Dynasty Warriors 6 using keyboard and maybe mouse, and it was OK. It wasn't great, but it worked. Not supporting keyboard and mouse on PC is just lazy, which seems to be KT's general attitude on PC: As far as I know, most of their ports are very lazy.

Also, how would you feel like if a game didn't support a controller on consoles? If it required an external peripheral to play, and that peripheral didn't even come with the game? It's not exactly the same, but it should give some idea about what's wrong here.

I've seen it this way for some time now. KT hasn't really been up to par with their PC ports like other studios/publishers have, and not including Mouse+Keyboard support just comes off as being lazy.

There are a plethora of games out there on PC that support the platform's main set of peripherals, so not supporting the main one outright is just damn lazy at it's finest. Trying to excuse the lack of being able to use the platform's main one is another.

And you're right, people would lose it, if they were told their game on console, outright refused gamepad support (have we ever actually seen a list that outright refuse to do so on console?).
