Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo has numerous million sellers this year, but none are on 3DS.

Switch already has multi million sellers in Zelda, Mario Kart, and Splatoon, with 1-2 Switch and ARMS soon breaching a million and Odyssey guaranteed to join their ranks. Meanwhile, on 3DS...

Yoshi's Woolly World - 0.44m

Mario Sports Superstars - 0.32m

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia - 0.53m

Miitopia - 0.46m

Ever Oasis - 0.13m

Hey! Pikmin - 0.25m

There's still Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Metroid Samus Returns, Mario Party Top 100, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, and Kirby Battle Royale, but besides US/UM, it's safe to say the rest wont reach 1 million either, if they can even pass the 500k mark. The vast majority of 3DS gamers just don't seem to care for the continued support, even though most of these games are actually good.

I've not bought a single 3DS game released this year and don't plan to, so I guess I'm among those who don't care. Many of those games simply don't interest me at all, namely Pikmin n Mario Party. For Pokemon n Fire Emblem, two series I am very much interested in, I had just got done playing their previous installments this year, and Switch sequels were announced, so I'm content waiting for those. Perhaps the Switch in general is why 3DS software sales are suffering, but there are still way more 3DS owners without Switches than with so I find that hard to believe.

Anyway, what's yals excuse for not buying these games?

Port games to Switch and people would buy more, simple.

I don't want to play on a low res screen.

I don't agree. Fire Emblem Shadows, and Metroid Samus Returns makes this a good year for 3DS. Plus I think titles like Monster Hunter Stories and Etrian Odyssey 5 would have sold even less if the 3DS wasn't being treated like a hot ticket item. And Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon ... I mean ... if those sell 6 million that will be good enough reason to release them.

Considering FE Shadows might end at .75-.90(not including digital) as a remake of an old game, well ... for a series that just recently started going to the 2 mil mark, that is very good. Not great, but good enough. Same could be said for Metroid.

FE and Metroid in particular are important turning points for both franchises in a symbolic way.

Now that being said, FE Fates sold like crazy(it's actually more accurate to say in the 3 mil range). So is there reason to be head over heals for Valentia's sales? Not really, but I think finishing off with .7-.9 will be good enough.

I'm glad they did, though

I have gotten Echoes and will get Pokemon. Metroid was well received so it is a positive indicator for the Metroid series, though sales may not be the best

But, I don't think Nintendo thought Mario Sports, Pikmin, Ever Oasis, Mario Party top 100 will be million sellers anyways so it could still have been profitable. They want people to still buy the 3DS as they are supporting it with some great games and others, not so much

Yeah, they're making great profit off easily made games and continue to sell thousands of units. What a waste Nintendo!!!!!!!1!

3ds has a good lineup this year, just this year i bought DQVIII, Fe Echoes and Samus Returns, im definitely going to buy Pokemon Ultra sun and maybe i'll get Ever Oasis, Yokai Watch 2: Psychic Specters and Monster Hunter Stories too.

(=^・ω・^=) Kuroneko S2 - Ore no Imouto - SteamMyAnimeList and Twitter - PSN: Gustavo_Valim - Switch FC: 6390-8693-0129 (=^・ω・^=)

The failure of Ever Oasis stings because I really wanted Koichi Ishii to succeed with a new IP. I suppose his company is going to continue being the Zelda support studio on the Switch.

Yeah I don't think they are pouring a lot of money into those games so they are still making a profit while creating a strong image of them not abandoning a system just because a new one came out and letting a smooth transition happen that will create a strong base and satisfy all their consumers so they will eventually get more sales. From people who would get angry and ignore them otherwise. Plus all the hardware sales of the 3ds are a bonus and profit at this point and it's matching PS4 sales in Japan so there is a lot of life there. Plus this will be one of those moments where they won't abandon the owners of a previous system but rather the owners will abandon the system voluntarily like happens with Sony a lot and you can see this helps Sony a lot so it will help Ninty a lot as well going forward. Other than that the switch looks to just steamroll sales everywhere except UK. I mean it will probably outsell PS4 and vita sometime late next year which is amazing even earlier maybe and in the US if the supply is there they are matching if not beating PS4 sales comparatively in their respective timelines only Europe is where it always has a problem and even there other than UK it is doing really good but of course can't match ps sales there. So it's good all around. More games aren't hurting anyone so why not

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

I mean from Nintendo's perspective, a business standpoint, aside from Pokemon, the rest of the games probably weren't worth making in hindsight, Ever Oasis and Hey Pikmin undoubtedly weren't profitable. Quality and quanity wise though yes it was definitely a solid year for 3DS.

SoV doesn't chart anymore so I doubt it'll sell much further, but maybe the holidays will be kind to it. With the mobile game you'd think it'd have done better, but I guess the Pokemon Go effect can't be replicated afterall.

didn't notice but you are right, sales are really low, especially when you consider the 3DS userbase

maybe some of these could have sold more on WiiU

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
