Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo wants more "mature" content on the switch

Nintendo is trying to make something that is like a bookstore. They want every type of game on their system (Except Porno). Not only that but if they can prove that mature games can sell on their system then we will get more ports and multiplatform games.

After all what's the best way to grow your userbase? By adding new types of customers to that user base. Do not underestimate Nintendo. They somehow got Modern Warfare 1 and 2 on the DS yet PSP didn't.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

My opinion: Nintendo needs to put up or shut up by showing 3rd parties that mature games can sell on the Switch by making one themselves. I'm not talking about paying a developer to make one for them, I'm talking about them making one internally within their EPD studios. And as of right now, Metroid Prime 4 is their perfect opportunity to show that they can make an M-Rated game that can sell well on the Switch.  They wouldn't even have to do much; just bump up the gore and horror aspects of the series.

To be fair, they invested in Retro for this exact reason, and their output has mostly been mature stuff. Now Retro needs to expand. Monolith's games aren't exactly "kiddy" either. If you're suggesting Miyamoto and co. start making mature games, it won't happen. I don't see how acquiring more studios (Read: Platinum Games) to make mature games is a bad thing.

N64 had quite a selection of mature titles that sold well.

Get a guaranteed seller like GTA on the Switch, and the rest will come.

As long as Mario/Pokemon/Zelda/Splatoon/Animal Crossing/etc. are the face of Nintendo, they'll never shed their familiy friendly image, but the good thing is they don't have to.

FE 2018 is going to be interesting.

The Waifu mechanics will be taken to another level thanks to HD rumble.

"It is too soon to say whether the efforts are paying off. The Switch version of “Nights of Azure 2,” has sold 6,317 copies in Japan as of Oct. 8 since it was released in late August, according to videogame magazine Famitsu. The U.S. release is in late October.

An official at Koei Tecmo Holdings Co., the developer of the game, described sales for the Switch version as “not bad,” although sales are higher for the PlayStation 4 version because more people own that machine."

Fine by me, although I have the feeling that this won't be tht successful. Right now, I'd rather get all the A-AA japanese games that the Vita and the 3DS are still getting, plus some visual novels.

I wouldn't mind some more mature content, won't be able to enjoy it with the young ones around most of the time, but I would like it.

Yes on all the Japanese RPGs and visual novels however. I actually don't give much of a hoot for visual novels but that is a growing market that Nintendo should want to pry out of the Vita's cold dying grip before STEAM takes everything for themselves.

how old are your young ones?

Please for the love of God get Atlus to port Tokyo Mirage Sessions to the Switch WITH NO CENSORSHIP!!!!!

I will never not laugh at this.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

While I won't try to minimize the importance of ports, I do hope this leads to the creation of unique, exclusive content...
I want another experience like Eternal Darkness (though I don't necessarily want a sequel as no sequel would hold up next to the original)...

Have a nice day...
