TLDR summary: After saying they would draw a line in 2017, Square Enix (Tabata) is back again announcing that Final Fantasy XV DLC updates will continue into 2018. With a second season pass focused on story that even "ungrateful fans" will have to get for a fee.

Look, no one should have to wait this long just to get a complete story.. I mean this is so damn bad, FFXV needs a second season pass to tell the rest of the story, and you or us the "Ungrateful fans" have to pay for it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when are we grabbing pitchforks and kicking out Tabata from Square-Enix? At least from the director position!

Also, on the Nova Crystallis source it doesn't say anything of "ungrateful fans" like that. Dunno on the Famitsu one since it's entirely in japanese xD

Did Tabata actually use the words "ungrateful fans"?

Of course not.

We didn't get DLC showing us more of Lulu's backstory in FFX. Does that mean FFX's story wasn't complete?

Considering how that game spawned a sequel, and an audio drama post FFX-2, it probably didn't in Square's eyes. xD

This being said, I do agree the story of XV is "complete" in the sense that it has a beginning, middle act and end. Which is more than, let's say, Metal Gear Solid V had. I think the actual story issues, not lack of thereof, is the biggest problem here, and they seem to have zero interest in adressing those.

Tabata is a hard worker but fuck off, ff15 was the game with the worst metacritic, wake up square, WAKE THE FUCK UP.

The milking to this game is out of this world, we will never get a ff16 ...

Why should they care about Metacritic scores when FFXV essentially saved the franchise because of how strong its sales we're.

Also, Its incredibly dishonest to fake a quote to get people to click on your thread.

FFXIV ARR saved the franchise, and took SE out of dept. It is currently SE biggest money maker.

I enjoyed the gameplay (warp strike is soooo good). I will never forget the moment when I randomly ran into a Jedi Tonberry.

I thought the story was good. I wasn't sure on some things, but I watched a video that put everything I missed into context. Made it a very impressive story.

Makes for an awkward moment when you need a movie, a TV show, and then a youtuber to actually understand the story.

Even without a youtuber helping one, a person needed to watch a prequel movie, and then the last 1/3 of the game was super rushed and huge expositional stuff told in notebooks laying around the floor one had to pic up and read.

You put "ungrateful fans" in quotations, as if it was said anywhere.

Also, more story doesn't mean that the story we already got wasn't a complete self contained story.
Showing us more about say Aranea Highwind doesn't take away from that.

We didn't get more of Eiko's backstory in FF9. Does that mean FF9's story wasn't complete?
That's a toxic way to look at things.

he didn't, but this will make "ungrateful fans"

I'm a big FF fan, and even I can see that this is dumb and undefendable.

How the MMORPG's do financially is not going to determine the course of the mainline games, as they are generally intended for a different audience.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper is probably bringing in a lot more revenue, as it's been in the top 10 of both Android and iOS highest grossing apps in Japan for years, but that doesn't mean it saved the mainline FF franchise. It comes down to how confident fans of the mainline series are in purchasing the next one. We'll see what kind of effect XV had when XVI comes out.

FFXIV is a mainline game. It is a numbered title for fans, and for new comers to mmos.
