But they love and respect consumers. So it balances out.

That's unfortunately how it works in this economy, squeezing out the workers so that they can compete against other companies who also squeeze out their workers.

Except that most bigger companies are shitty to both their employees and customers. Especially in gaming.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If CD Projekt Red were a bigger company, they'd probably be doing the same.

That's what happens when you're depent on ONE big project each time that costs more money that you probably have as a company. The bad management is no surprise either. They were a small company that went so big in such a little amount of time. Their CEO is probably an old close-minded post-communist aashole who thinks that he's a god and doesn't listen to his employees without understanding that diversity of thought is very important in an international enviroment.

Haven't watched video coz at work but that title describes like most big dev teams

Most likely, yes. And the day will definitely come as they rise in popularity.

Gamers dont care. All they care for is cheap games and ridiculous excess of releases no matter the consequences.

Hunting Season is done...

Is really all the "evidence" he cites from the very few reviews on glassdoor and job listings by CD Projekt (I skipped through the vid)? Then this video has no conclusive evidence for the statement in the thread title, so it's just "wrong" and OP should feel bad.

Comparing the 30 reviews / 7 CEO reviews of CD Projekt with the > 700/ > 1700 reviews for Ubisoft/EA and the > 400 CEO reviews for both is inappropriate as very few disgruntled ex-staff can hugely impact their score.

That said I don't doubt developing games in Poland is just as shitty (long work hours, crunch time, shitty pay) as anywhere else around the world. It just takes hundreds of thousends of work hours to create an AAA game, which then is sold for a pretty low price.
