Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumour: Netflix is ready for the Switch

It is kind of crazy that we still do not have Netflix. I am guessing Nintendo just wanted to focus on games. I think I also heard Netflix could have it done at launch but didn't for some reason.

TBH, I don't think it is that important anymore for home consoles because most TVs have it today. I actually use it on PS4 because my TV isn't a Smart one. But I reckon that it's best to use a native TV app since you can use the remote instead of a gamepad to control it (or having to buy a remote for the console).

But the Switch is also portable, so that can be an extra feature. It would be nice if the app for Switch allowed users to download stuff to watch offline (like the Android/iOS app does), so it could be used on the go without Wi-Fi.

I was at a customers house and they still had Netflix running on their Wii. So needless to say, it's coming. :D

Oh wow! That's really strange. I can't imagine the Wii being used frequently, whether it be for gaming or Netflix. Netflix must look horrible through a 480p output.

Netflix never came to the Wii in Australia, however, this is most likely due to Australia only getting Netflix roughly 2-3 years ago. We were in the dark ages.

Nah, I watch Netflix with my dad on his Wii every Wednesday when my wife and I go have dinner with him at his house.  It looks fine.  He used to play Sim City on the Virtual Console, but now it mostly gets used for Netflix.  If it genuinely looked awful, I think we'd just watch movies on his Xfinity cable instead.

I gave my little sister my Wii and she does this--despite the fact that I also gave her an Xbox 360!

As long as the Switch app features Netflix Downloads for offline viewing them I'm happy.

All I want is Netflix and YouTube, I don't even think I'd even need a web browser on a console.

I agree. Having a browser on any gaming console is a novelty that doesn't serve much purpose. Whereas having Netflix and YouTube is definitely a function that would get a lot of use.

Console  browsers are terrible.  The Wii U browser was pretty good though.

The switch OS was clearly rushed and Netflix is just one of those things that got cut in the deadline.
I never had any doubt it was coming though.

Leasons learned from a Wii U early adopter.  I believe we had Netflix and Hulu before Switch though.

This is a big deal for the Switch, it is finally becoming a multimedia device.

I would love to see a console usage graph a year after it come to the system.

Looking forward to the pornhub stats and top search results per console.

That will be interesting.

The results will look something like this more or less:

Demographics:

69% Heterosexual

1% Homosexual

30% Squidsexual

Search results:

286,941 searches for "Princess Peach"

220,439 searches for "Samus"

196,532 searches for "Zelda"

87,432 searches for "Marina"

52,589 searches for "Squid tentacles"

36,231 searches for "Charizard"

1,756 searches for "Mario nipples"

12 searches for "Gerudo Link"

Just a rough estimate based on the Nintendo fanbase x'D

Okay, that's interesting to know. Hopefully you will continue to enjoy your Wednesday tradition.
