Forums - Gaming Discussion - PUBG passes 1m concurrent players

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe DOTA holds the steam record with 1.2m players. So this game might break the record.

It's priced at €30 so that's a lot of revenue. The xbox release this fall will likely sell well and next year if it releases on ps4 it could do very well there too.

Anyway it will be interesting to see how high this gets on Steam.

Well done that game. Let's hope it can keep the numbers in the future with finishing the game plus regular updates.

Hmm, pie.

It's insane how much this game has sold, it's like it just came out of nowhere and set the gaming world on fire.

Streamers and impressionable children. That's not the only player base of course, but that's the only way I can think that this game got so big out of thin air.

Which makes it more ironic that there are game companies that object to people live streaming/making LPs of their games, because as this shows it can actually be extremely beneficial.

The one's who usually object are the ones where 'story' is a major part of the game, just watching someone play will mean you don't need to buy it yet, a PvP game is the same thing over and over mostly, which is why Twitch has more people watching them that some guy play Last of Us for the 18th time through for views.

Hmm, pie.

And they havent even finished the damn game yet

Might get it at steam winter sale, will it still be a thing 2-3 years from now tho. These type of games tend to have a fickle migrating player base.

Do you think it will get much better by the time it is finished?

Not familiar, but well done to the developers.
