Pretty much this. Along with some confusion and lack of real upgrade in power to almost decade old cheaper tech. |
Seconded, post-launch was the real drag for Wii U.

I bet they would have at least reached Gamecube sales if they named it Super Wii.
Evidences tell us the two have received different treatment indeed.
Zekkyou said: Given this includes WiiU ports, should we include the Wii's library as part of the WiiU's launch? I'm half joking, but it'd make for a fun discussion. I bet we could come up with a variety of compelling arguments for both yes and no. |
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not a port
- Zelda came out at the same time as the Wii U version and has a higher resolution and better frame rate
- You can play Switch games on the go, but you can't play Wii games on the go with your Wii U. The small screen makes the games look much better as well.
So no, you shouldn't include the Wii's library as part of the Wii U's launch.

lol @ anyone who said Wii u had a good launch line up.. I got a wii u at launch and only had Nintendo Land and New Super mario Bros U. for a ten month period. Both games were underwhelming(there was only 1 other console that i shall not name that had such a long drought after launch for me) Where as Switch i got 1 month after launch with BOTW Already got Splatoon 2 and getting Mario*rabbids tomorrow

The games were/are there for both consoles, you just picked the ones that you wanted.
People gave the "watered down" Wii U versions a lot of hate, but they ignore the fact that some of those games had exclusive content, included dlc, and additional content in some cases. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition, Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, Need For Speed Most Wanted U, Ninja Gaiden Razors Edge, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper.

I got mine on launch day also. Came home with a copy of Nintendo Land (pack in), New Super Mario, and Black Ops 2. Soon after, I had Batman Arkham City, Lego City, Mighty Switch Force HD, Little Inferno, Trine 2, andNinja Gaiden 3.
Got a Switch on day one, as well. I currently have Zelda (which I could have gotten on WiiU), Arms, Mario Kart (which is 90% the same as the WiiU game I also own), Splatoon 2, Sonic Mania, Fate Extella, Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero, NBA Playgrounds, Snipper Clips, Wonder Boy, Blaster Master, and Fast RMX.
I probably play the Switch more but there was plenty to play at WiiU launch in my home. Probably a few games I didn't even name. I'm just remembering the first few months.

Just pointing out that Wii games do work on the WiiU in "off TV mode". The controller even has a built-in sensor bar.
The Wii U generation was killed early by Nintendo, so we have to think that most of these new games were originally being made for the Wii U.
Im curious about the 2018 lineup. If it is as solid as this years, it will mean that Nintendo didnt blow up their load this year.
It will also mean that i will 100% buying a Switch
