I have them all, def buying Kiwami. And hell yes, having Yakuza Ishin in NA would be awesome. I'd buy Yakuza Kenzan on the PS3 if the most improbable scenario ever were to unfold. What we really need though, is a remake of Yakuza 2, so that it's not the lone title standed in gen 6, and of course we get to play it.

How important would it be to play the other games in the series to enjoy this one, then?

The story is a huge part of the game, lots of detail, and many characters stretching across 7 games now. I would say you could still enjoy it even it's your first Yakuza however. Another thing to consider: Every Yakuza game has a feature that allows the player to recap prior events and story elements. It's called the reminsce mode. I started with Yakuza 3, and fell in love with it. If you have the time/inclination, maybe play the others first. Part 7 of 7 probably isn't the best place to start, but you'll be fine if you do.

Those glasses are pretty cool not gonna lie, would make me feel like a badass just by drinking from them. Can't wait to play it, still need to play 0 and 1 remaster so a ton of Yakuza to enjoy before 6.

Yakuza 2 kiwami or something will happen IMO. I also hope they will remaster Yakuza 3-5 then include Kenzan. XD

you should start with yakuza 0 or kiwami. they are both better than 6 too
