Yeah, I've made a point to stay away. I'm quite content with my current plan.

It's why I've decided to hold long and not try to time it.

I always say to people who win out on high risk/reward investments "Congratulations", but not something I do or suggest for others.  We are aware of the huge success stories, like investing in Amazon twenty years ago, but we tend to forget the numerous failures one could have tried back then as well.

Everyone who gets lucky with timing is a "genius" (a la Mark Cuban), but the reality is that holding long and not overthinking investments usually creates the most wealth.

Seems like you should consider reading more about Mark Cuban if you think his wealth was accumulated through the market. He's a very impressive person, far more than I knew.

He's definitely not stupid, but he got rich by selling Broadcast.com

It worked out great for him, but not the acquirer (Yahoo?): too soon for the marketplace, hence the later, massive success of YouTube.

Despite him having NO market expertise, however, he's always quoted, when he makes a (usually) bad market prediction.

Chalk up to American celebrity worship.

I bought three different Tech currency actually. Cannot remember the other names,  eupherem and something else.

Then I went to the actual bit coin site and bought some more.

Should I just keep buying this stuff monthly until it means something?  I have a bunch of Iraqi dinar too,  but that has failed to matter after nearly a decade.

why are you asking here? I doubt the majority of people here even know or care..

even so....  I would invest in ethereum, zcash, or something cheaper... Decred is bound to go up soon...

really. If you want to invest in crypto, do some research... Do you know what a blockchain is?

only invest what you can afford to lose.

Seconded; learn about it, because helps to know what it is vs. the nonsense on the news.

I also agree to focus on BTC and/or ETH, because they are the "mainstream" currencies that are most likely to become the USD of crypto.

Apologies if my response seemed dickish... There is a lot of crap out there in crypto and you are liable to lose some money if you blindly invest. If you are American, read up on how It's taxed.. Also, when it comes time to cash out to fiat currency the best site coinbase usually suffers an outage until the price drops back down... It's a PITA.

I bought 1 bitcoin in October after coming back from a trip to Japan where I saw some of the big stores accepting it as payment. Think I paid around £5000 for it. Also got 2 Ether and 2 Litecoin. Up a couple of grand so far, hoping it'll go to 10's of thousands in a few years.

Judgement day has come. Those twin bros who sued Zuck that are bitcoin billionaires now opened their makeshift exchange for futures trading. Bitcoin probably hit 20k today lol. I'm still rooting for litecoin though considering I have a few coins. Maybe one day litecoin will hit 1k.

You think bitcoin would be up most today with open of futures trading but the real story today I would say is litecoin. Litecoin moved from 150 to near 200 today. Guess people that missed the expensive bitcoin train are hoping on the cheaper litecoin train now.
