It had one day to sell competitively and it debuted at 2nd place. It released on the 21st and these results are from the 22nd. Think before you type

So, you're saying it had 2 days?

This is quite possibly the worst defense for a game's poor sales. Happens all the time, despite that being the normal amount of time for FW sales. Games never get a full 7 days for their FW sales.

No, it's not. Europe is already Nintendo's weakest market overall, and the system has significantly less sales. The game only having 1 or 2 days is just the cherry on top. You're acting like that's the only point against Splatoon but it isn't. Also, that is not "the normal" amount of time for a game. Most games launch on a Tuesday, giving them 5 days. Splatoon launched on Friday and had till Saturday to beat Crash. I'm not trying to dethrone Crash's accomplishment, i'm glad that Crash is doing well. Maybe we will see a golden age for contemporary PS platformers due to the remake. But I also think people going over SplatoonDoom are being overdramatic, and I don't think the 2 days argument is anything to scoff at when you consider the context.

Also, sorry, I was a bit confused if the sales were as of 22nd or reported on the 22nd, either way doesn't change much tbh.

Oh, it's Crash's 4th week. Also, is 28k counting the bundles?

I read on gaf they are counted.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Almost all games in the UK launch on Friday like any other game... This is brought up in these threads too many times to count.

Tuesday is the typical US launch. I think JP games launch on Saturdays usually, but not too sure on that one.

Yeah that's weird. I just noticed that. I wonder why that is?

That wasn't really one of my points since Crash obviously launched before tuesday, so it wouldn't have mattered anyways, but my bad. I guess my correction was wrong. I don't get why the releases would work that way.

It actually makes a lot more sense. Games releasing on a friday mean people have the whole weekend to play them. I wouldn't be at all surprised if sick days from work/school were much more common around game releases in the US since it's in the beginning of the week, while us Brits don't need to skip work/school since we know that when we get home friday we'll have a full weekend to enjoy our new game.

no no no, I'm not saying it doesn't make sense to release on a friday, i'm saying why aren't the common release dates the same. I'd prefer Friday release dates here in the U.S. too

US changed to Tuesday due to distribution often being too late for the weekend if the release was on Friday, so they preferred to have the games as a certainty for the weekends. UK doesn't have the same problem due to the size of the country and the size of the warehouses.

It's not "spinning" it's a basic level of understanding that, when a system that has less units on the market than another system by a signficant margin especially in the UK, and that game only has one day of sales in a single week, and that it's facing a platforming mascot that is extremely popular in the UK, it's going to have less of a chance to sell. Basic logic = "spinning"? This isn't exactly a secret dude.

I don't follow UK sales frequently but I gather that its among Nintendo's weakest markets, and I know the majorities of games release on Friday over there so only a couple of days of data is counted. The thing is most sales of the first week come from the first 2 days and in some cases first day, it's typically easy to have a rough idea on how well a said game will perform. The signs for Splatoon 2 so far in the UK are in no way, shape or form "impressive" even with the current install base in mind. That doesn't necessarily mean it will do bad, but so far nothing warrants a celebration.

Fair enough, I'd actually agree with that.

GfK has numbers for Snipperclips' download codes. It's possible they don't count codes as part of a bundle but I'm 90% sure they do.

Oh then nevermind if that's the case.

I was mistaken. I confused a GAME press release with GfK. GfK doesn't have Snipperclips in their charts. GfK never counted Wii Sports in their charts either so I don't think they do count bundled software whether it's physical or code.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Don't underestimate the power of muthfucken crash bandicoot. It's not just a game it's a lifestyle.

These UK threads were so quiet recently. Trust crash bandicoot to Smash it back into life! I hope Sony do a crash + ratchet bundle this holiday.
