No matter how you cut it, Resident Evil is profitable. They'll take about $103M from the boxoffice grossing. That's only boxoffice - add in home video, streaming etc and it makes a decent amount.

Just remember how they spend $400M or so on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and still made a $20M profit on that BO flop.

SPE will made be profitable with the right choices. They need to stop making turds like Ghostbusters.

I never said RE won't be profitable for them, but where are you getting this 103 million in profit for Resident Evil from? I'm having a very, very hard time seeing that, even when including ancilliary revenues that you mentioned.  More than 50% of the BO gross came from China. They have to split revenue with Capcom, Constantin, and other production companies. They have to pay Capcom a royalty fee. I find that 103 million figure very unlikely. I am guessing the number is much closer to 50 million.

They only made money on Amazing Spider man 2 because.....it's spider man, with a 700+ million flop. That's the reason they went to Marvel. They SUCK.

SPE could be profitable mainly because of the TV side and Spiderman. They are absolutely garbage. You mentioned Ghostbombas, but Emoji and Jumanji remind me a lot of how that movie was being perceived. Seriously, the money, resources, and R&D spent on SPE would be much better on Playstation. Anyone who invests in Sony should clearly see that.

50% of the US gross + 40% of the international gross sans China + 25% of the China gross. And that's not even including the rest of the revenue stream. As for the rights, I think it's more likely a flat fee as opposed to a percentage on the gross.
