Yet Trump became president. If he can say what he wants, then everyone else should be able to say what they want.

Not one person is saying that the can't say anything but it also completely fine to say that they shouldn't say anything. Everyone filters their thoughts before they speak. Being celebrities or public figures, what they say or do has repercussions on their careers especially if it doesn't pertain to their career. Shia Labeouf is an actor and people pay to see him act. No one pays to hear about his political opinions but he's a person with his own mind and voice. He's welcome to say what he wants. The real question is should he really say what he wants especially if it makes him look like a crazy person who's on some really good shit? He probably should put a bit more thought into what he says or does.

Could, or should is two different things entirely. Everybody has an opinion. If actors and celebs have an opinion they want to share, they should, they're human. They have as much right to free speech as anyone, as much as everyone else has a right to disagree. Many celebs choose to be politically active and become philanthropists, or choose to shed light on a cause. If you disagree, you have a choice not to support their work. Shia being a ranting douche in public while under the influence is a different point, really. That's celebs thinking they're above the law, not expressing free opinion.
