how many vacation days do you get avarage each year in the US?

Here in Sweden most people get 5-6 weeks each year to spend and we have right by law to get 4 of them in a row during June-August if we want to.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

You only get three weeks paid vacation each year? Ouff

Yeah, that sounds about normal. Many people don't get any at all though because they're contracted.

Congratulations on your vacation time and enjoy it.

After my month long 13-16 hours/day, 7 days a week, project, my boss can only tell me that we should be concentrating here more so that we can finish and be ready for the projects coming up.
All in all, having a boss that forces you to go rest is not that bad in life.

5 weeks as a minimum by law here. So if thats normal, that sounds awful to me.

In most of Canada, it's 2 weeks a year by law, including where he lives:

I've been in your same situation many times over the years. Massive amounts of built up vacation and personal day time not used. I always hope they will just pay the weeks and refresh the bank, so to speak. But usually they say you need to use those hours and take the time off. And then sit home bored for weeks. The only way to get a 'pay out' of the built up time is to leave, which I have strategically done a couples time knowing I would be leaving anyways. If you really have nothing to do on a vacation, it is really boring after the first couple days after you have cleaned your closet and re-organized your cupboards...COs should just let employees take the pay out.

Go on vacation to a place with low cost of living using last minute offers on both vacation and flight, so you'll probably be able to save money too. Don't use up all your available days, otherwise coming back to work could be unpleasant, come back home a few days before your vacation expires.

So I talked to HR last week, and they want me to cut my vacation time in half, or I'll lose that amount. So I'm now off till the end of August, but I think I will be staying here in Calgary after deciding on this. And hey, the polls say I should play video games all day, and polls are never incorrect on the judgement of everyone, so yeah.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

In the US, most people have 2-3 weeks of paid vacation for the first few years they're with an employer.  If you stay with the same company for several years or more, you may get to 4 weeks per year.

This is not set by law, in most US jurisdictions.

I recommend you get day drunk and play jRPGs.
