Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS responds about lack of AAA exclusives at E3

Aaron Greenberg from Microsoft was interviewed by GamerTagRadio post-E3 2017. He didn’t agree with the feedback that his company got from the community about the lack of exclusive titles.

“We felt like we showed a lot of great AAA games,” Greenberg told GamerTagRadio. “It’s tough because if you show too many AAA games, people are gonna be like ‘oh man, all you’re showing us are big blockbusters, we want to see more variety and diversity’. We just showed everything. But with that said, largely what we showed was games that are going to launch between now and E3 next year.”

“Take our first party stuff,” he said. “Forza will be out, Crackdown will be out, Sea of Thieves, Super Lucky’s Tale, State of Decay 2, all will be launching before E3 next year. So we showed you big blockbuster exclusives that you will be able to play over the next year, in addition to Assassin’s Creed this holiday, in addition to a great variety of all those great indie titles that are coming out- like Cuphead. And that’s an exclusive.”

He also mentioned that the studio behind Gears of War is possibly working on a new IP. “It’s an incredibly talented team up there, We pivoted that team to go focus on Gears and brought Rod Ferguson in, co-creator of that franchise. [Gears of War 4 had an] incredible campaign, they did a great job with versus, great job with Horde mode. So that team is focused on the Gears franchise going forward.”

This is why people hate this Greenburg guy. Never able to admit faults and try to do better.

Cuphead is not an exclusive. It's on Steam too. The original Lucky's Tale scored a 62 on metacritic. Sea of Theives looks neat, but Rare hasn't done anything great since the N64 days. State of Decay is sitting at 72 on metacritic.

There's a huge difference between having AAA exclusives, and having AAA exclusives from developers with a track record of putting out great games. I mean, Sony didn't have much, but at least they had a new Spiderman game developed by Insomniac. At least they have DLC for Horizon and Uncharted 4. Those things are worth looking forward to because they are by developers with a current and proven track record.

So he basically avoided adressing the actual topic.

It never ever hurts to show more AAA games.  Are their AAA games not diverse, is that why???? lol

That's where you know Microsoft's take on AAA is wrong. There's no reason why AAA games can't also have diversity.

Just give us more AAA Shooters Microsoft.

Greenberg is full of poop. Why does he think AAA games should lack diversity? This guy can be infuriating to listen to. Him and Yusuf Mehdi (and lately Jim Ryan.)

Right - but no one has said this about Microsoft, especially nowadays. Hell, Sony basically admitted that their biggest marketing push - indies, were no longer important and that they wouldn't cover them much in e3...and no one complained.

I mean jesus, calling State of Decay, Super Lucky, and Sea of Thieves blockbusters?

What the fuck come on OP, I was drinking tea when I read this shit, almost spat it on the screen laughing.

It's a good thing he was nice to the audience and considered they might get overwhelmed if they saw too many good games.
