They not just arbitrary designed though, without boarders the values you hold dear will mean nothing and even if they share all the same values no country could support taking everyone in, so everyone living in poverty is better? There's a system to apply for citizenship if you avoid this not only should you be deported but never allowed entry again.

Obviously just eliminating borders while keeping everything else the same isn't a good idea, but I wouldn't want just that to change while nothing else does.

Isn't it great? How you're somehow illegal in one plot of land because you were born in another plot of land, and decided to move to it?

Yes, it is great. If borders were open, you would have western civilization collapse. You would have billions moving to "rich" countries in the west, while entire regions of the world would almost be abandoned. Its bad enough in America and Europe with so called "borders", but imagine the exodus that would take place from Africa, parts of Asia, and Latin America if that principle was abandoned. We would be talking about the collapse of western society.



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

You know what would make people not want to immigrate here? Well, there's two ways of doing that:

1. Make life here so horrible that they wouldn't want to immigrate

2. Make life there better so they don't want to emigrate.

What does "Western society" even mean? That somehow Westerners are more important?

That's really not the point of the story.  It's not really about whether or not he should be deported.  It's more about how someone can be convinced to vote against their own self interest.

No, that the standard of living in Europe and North America (as well as parts of South America and Asia) is much better than most of the world. We don't see people from Europe and North America immigrating in mass to Africa, the Middle East, and large parts of the world in anywhere near the numbers they are receiving immigrants for many reasons. And I get that people want to immgrate here, but there is only so many you can support. Realistically, the west consumes far too much already, having more people only makes the problem worse.

I've known people who have immigrated to the U.S. illegally, but were excited about Donald Trump and supported him. I don't get it. He's pretty clear about how he feels on this issue.

What is his self-interest? He can't vote, it was his daughter who voted (and how do we know for certain he voted for Trump?). He shouldn't be in a country illegally in the first place, and Trump was going to win regardless of that one vote.

As I said, unless the situation here becomes so terrible, or the situation there improves drastically, there's always going to be people who are going to come to the countries illegally, because they're willing to take the extreme risks for the little chance that they can have a better life. So, the best solution to me seems to make the whole world a better place to live in.

So, how is it any different that have personal land or proeperty? Should you allow any person who wishes into your home?
