Seems a bit hyperbolic. I hear their E3 showing was bad but to their credit, I also understand that a number of their games aren't potentially several years away from release.

People went nuts for their E3 showing at 2015 but in retrospect, it just seems manipulative: no release dates in sight for FF7R or Shenmue 3 to this day and TLG was a game announced several years ago.

No Man's Sky impressed too that same E3 but that topic is an extinct horse species at this point, no need to say more.

I think I prefer a Sony with a bit more humility. Start by doing away with the theater schtick unless their show is really going to knock people out of their seats. That's dangerous territory though since that could result in overpromising and underdelivering.

Their E3 was light on theatrics this year.  It was nothing but 55 minutes of trailers.  In some sense, I like that they did nothing but show us the games.  But, I don't like that they said nothing about release dates.  Also, the show didn't really even need to occur.  That should have just released a video like Nintendo did.

I hear the Nintendo and Microsoft showing were bad, too.  Depends on who you listen to.

Sony's show was really good if you like games.  If you watch for 'big announcements' and 'surprises' then not so much.  Of course, half his website was going to down it no matter what (just like the other two).  It becomes especially amusing when one show is criticized for things like no game-play footage shown or no release date given but the same things are not counted off at another show.

As long as the games aren't several years away from release...

 

Freaking Kingdom Hearts 3 had a trailer four years ago and this past E3 it had yet another trailer.

tldr: EA SUCKED!, Microsoft showed great variety, Sony showed too many similar games, UbiSoft did well: Mario x Rabbids impressed and happy to see BGE2, they didn't cover Nintendo since they dislike Nintendo's demonetization policy.

I agree. No release date, no gameplay footage, but some went crazy for it. I'm happy to say I'm not one of those jumping for joy but I am glad to see the franchise isn't dead. Much more excited for the upcoming 3ds title releasing in September.
