"Nintendo should go third party" MY ASS!

Didn't they already put Pokemon and Mario on mobile?

Yep! Then the 3DS and past Pokemon XY and ORAS sales increased!

And yet Nintendo made last FY higher profit than hole Sony.

That is net profit including extraordinary profit (which includes fixed asset sales, of course).

My statement is with regard to the gross profit o f PSN and Nintendo. That means that I am not talking about operating profit, which includes various administrative costs (like marketing, for instance, so this means that I can't talk about opersting profit of PSN alone). Nor am I talking about net profit, which includes extraordinary profits and losses.

...

I'm not really posing this as a rebuttal to your statement. I'm pointing this out so we both know that we're talking about numbers that are not necessarily comparable. You're talking about net profit, while I'm talking about the gross profit of PSN and Nintendo.

But when we talk about stocs we need to consider whole Sony, not just Sony Gaming Division, Sony Gaming Division does not have separate stocks from rest of Sony.

I don't think that's true.

Ah, yes - the movie division $1B write-off and Nintendo's profit that came from the sports team. Obviously when it comes to gaming, Sony's gaming division trounces Nintendo even with its sports team sales.

It is though, well... other than the spelling of whole at least

On the whole asssets - liabilities thing:

Percentage also matters. In the case of a future recession, Sony is at a fairly high risk of defaulting. Assets lose value during crisis. Also, selling off the assets would kill the company. Nintendo does not have that risk.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

huh?

"liabilities" instead of debt then. Happy?

No... because that's still not even close to being true.

Sony's equity is like 15% of the company's assets.  Nintendo's equity is about 90% of their assets.  Unless I'm terrible at reading balance sheets, then Nintendo's asset to liability ratio is better than Sony by a factor of about 6.

But again Nintendo made more profit than hole Sony and now has higher market cap than hole Sony (hole point of this thread). That's quite interesting because Nintendo is much smaller company and has around 5k employs while Sony has around 120k employs.

And? Lol

Sony isn't just gaming too! And look how they contribute!

I'd love Nintendo's games on PC. Sadly won't happen any time soon... :(

Sony: http://asia.nikkei.com/Company/001CJR-E

Total assets 17,660.55B
Total liabilities 14,513.07B

Nintendo: http://asia.nikkei.com/Company/05HWBQ-E

Total assets 1,468.97B
Total liabilities 218,004M

From March though.

So according to those figures:

Sony liabilities are 82% of their assets and Ninty's liabilities are 15% of their assets.

carry on...

Hmmmm , It seems I made a mistake.

Nope.  you just quoted an out of date article.  Ninty mc is higher than Sony mc as of right now.

Sony 5.404 t y

Ninty 5.446 t y

Probably wont last though.

Not bad for such a relatively tiny company.

Traders still put much stock in Nintendo IPs.

Nintendo should definitely go 3rd party now
